Authentic tapas bar, food is slightly pricier than some other options. Calamari was the best of all the dishes! Garlic prawns is one of their speciality so one to try out.

17.50 euro for a few garlic shrimp. What a joke! The serving is tiny. You can do much better else where.

Really authentic tapas and lots of locals eating there which suggests it is always good. Nice atmosphere.

Quick bite accompanied by wine! We had gambas al ajillo and croquetas. Both delicious. Maybe slightly pricier than other tapas bars but the food was top top.

They serve you things you didn't order and charge it. That's not honest. Everything is way to expensive. I would never go there again.

CBS had a show in the US about a Tapas crawl in Madrid. You can still watch it on YOU Tube. This Tapas Bar was in that show and they featured Gamba's. We had to try them. Nice Pub, my wife loved their Sangria. Their...More

Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street
performers, colorful lights, window shopping,
restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and
churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a
collection of plazas interconnected by a network of
side streets. Some of these side streets are wide
pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so
it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as

No, at all. I don't think they accept reservations anyway. In the worst case, you can always go to other locations which are very close - around 2 minutes by walk.

La Casa del Abuelo is one of the Tapas Bars that you can't miss if you visit Madrid. This house is more than 100 years old and it's one of the most representative Taverns in Madrid. Specialities are shrimps in all of its varieties: grilled, with coarse salt and looking for the prefect cooking point and garlic shrimps, served in our terracotta casseroles with virgin olive oil, garlic and parsley. The tradition is to eat the shrimps with the red sweet wine "El Abuelo" that made this house famous. Today everything is served the same way than 100 years ago!
