This bar has seats outside so you can sit and watch the world go by, with a beer or glass of wine. Considering its location it isn't hideously expensive, service is efficient although not overly friendly. The real joy of this bar is when you go inside, cool tiled walls and hundreds of photos of bull fighters - fascinating. And... More

The wine was awful, the space was small, and entirely uncomfortable. It is on the Plaza de Mayor which turned out to be the highlight. The walls are covered with pictures. There about four bull Head mountings on the wall. Stay for five minutes and then you'll be done with this tourist trap. Knew it going in but still was... More

I visited this place recently with my boyfriend who wanted to visit the place( recommended for someone at work) I lived in Madrid for 10-12 years so I know the city pretty well in term of prices/ services/ food. The place is really interesting if you are interested in bullfighting. I enjoyed the food. We had 2 white wines +... More

This is a wonderful and interesting place. They created a very friendly atmosphere with perfectly cooked sea products, of course accompanied by drinks. People are standing, talking, eating and drinking. Nice photos are hanging on walls. One should see this nice restaurant in Madrid.

The pictures of bull fight were all over, and the bull heads adorned the higher walls. Some pics were gory, but gave a great glimpse of the sport. The place almost felt like a little museum The tapas and drinks were good, a little pricy though.

Quite complaining about the price! This is a great place to learn about how live like a Madriano. You can learn, just by watching, how to enjoy tapas with your drink. Order a Cana (small beer) and the bartender will provide you with a tapas. Then sip your drink as you take in all the bullfighting history represented on the... More

If you’re interested in bull fighting this is the place to go. Lots of bull fighting memorabilia displayed, including mounted heads of famous bulls. Had a small glass of beer for about 2 Euros and looked around for 20 minutes or so. Very small bar so if there are many people you’ll be hard pressed to really look around.

This small bar/taberna located on Plaza Mayor in Madrid is not for everyone. Those strongly opposed to the bullfight will be offended by the pro-corrida, pro-matador slant of the décor, which includes the famous mounted bulls’ heads and scores of framed photographs, many frankly difficult to look at for the bullring violence they capture. (Some photos appear to be of... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
