It is a lovely, warm setting on the Plaza Paja. There is outdoor seating but it was too cold the night we ate there. The menu is interesting. The portions are generous and the food is very good. The salad was enough for a meal and is a wonderful combination of fruit and vegetables. The cous-cous dish was delicious. It... More

I walked for 30 mins trying to locate this restaurant, desperate to find a vegan meal amongst all the meat in Madrid! The staff were so friendly and on a crisp winters afternoon, sitting in the sun watching the locals enjoy their weekend, I enjoyed red wine and complimentary olives before enjoying a fantastic lentil burger and sides. I was... More

Favourite restaurant of all times! It is always a good option to go there. It is not expensive and the portions are big so when you go out from there you don't feel as if you had waisted your money.

Be prepared for the portions to be enormous and for a familiar dish to take on an unexpected shape. For example, when you order crepes, you'll get a very puffy, huge, omelette-like creation. The food is tasty, but it did leave me with an odd feeling.

Was really looking forward to it - seemed to be good selection on menu and some unusual choices. Both of us ordered seitan dishes, one curried and the other with Roqeufort sauce, and a salad. Unfortunately it was all quite stodgy and with not much taste, which especially considering the price (€13.50 each) was disappointing.

Visited in July and although there is a good choice of options the food was pretty dull and overpriced for what was provided. I wondered if the gazpacho had come straight out of a supermarket packet. It seems to be trading on its position in the Plaza de la Paja. Will not revisit next time I am in Madrid.

We were taken to this veggie restaurant in La Latina quarters of Madrid by a friend who had already eaten here. We opted for the MENU DEL DIA which includes a 3 course meal and a drink for 12€. I had the Ensalada Napolitana (chicory, mozzarella, tomatoes, courgettes... and generous helpings of a lush dressing - not entirely dissimilar to... More

Easy dining option and lots of choices for the vegetarian set. Gazpacho was delicious, but the paella was just okay. Lovely outdoor seating and yummy olives with a nice glass of wine. Very relaxing.

Went here on our first day in Madrid after a tip in a Lonely planet guide book - which was admittedly from 2009 and maybe this place WAS great once upon a time, but now it mostly has the air of an overpriced and not very good tourist trap... Now, it has a nice terrace on a quiet and cosy... More

Staying in La Latina

Neighbourhood Profile
La Latina
La Latina is a charming neighbourhood with two unique personalities. At first glance, it’s distinctly old-world, with narrow streets weaving a maze among charming stone buildings in sunny, bright colors like yellow and pink. The other side of La Latina is characterized by a young population and a bohemian vibe, as evidenced by a dynamic and evolving selection of new bars, shops, coworking spaces, and other businesses popping up in the area. In the northern part of the neighbourhood, the Cava Alta and Cava Baja streets constitute the tapas center of Madrid, where each age-old restaurant serves up distinctive specialties like huevos rotos and patatas bravas. Locals have come here for generations to while away hours over drinks and tapas with friends. On Sundays and public holidays, the streets to the south of La Latina metro station transform into a giant open-air market full of locals sifting through tent after tent of art, apparel, and antiques. Any day of the week, the intriguing blend of the traditional and the hip make the streets of La Latina worth exploring.
