Classy, elegant, atmospheric, heritage. Perfect. But I found that the prices are 20% over the value. Plases are great and tasty, service is attentive and discreet. Style is stylish but prices are even more expensive than London or Paris high end restaurants offering a more vibrant and exciting menu and context. So please Ritz: keep the class but give a... Everything about this restaurant was excellent. The service, the food, the wine, the ambience, the style, the design, just everything was first rate. I will definitely go back next time I'm in Madrid, this was just my cup of tea!

We have been staying in Madrid for 5 nights and have tried a number of recommended restaurants, but by far, the best restaurant & meal was at the Goya Restaurant located in the Hotel Ritz in central Madrid. The service, the atmosphere (piano playing in the background), table out on the terrace, and the food were all exceptional. For entrée... More

I was really looking for more...service, food ambiance...just not there! A beautiful setting but honestly for the prices they charge, I really thought it would be substantial. I had salmon, my husband had pig...really just average. Service was rushed and hardly attentive.

Outside on the terrace with a piano player on a very pleasant evening. We had cocktails and then beef carpaccio (delicious), then shrimp ravioli (delicious), and then steak tartar, lightly seared (delicious). We shared each of the servings. It was more than enough. The wine steward (Yoany) recommended the best red wine we have had in Spain - 3 glasses... More

My wife and I had the smaller tasting menu, the Velasquez. Every item was delicious, beautifully prepared and presented. The only trouble for us was that, by the octopus risotto, we were finding it difficult to find the appetite - and indeed space in our stomachs - for any more. This is partly because the servings are so generous and... More

One of the best restaurants in Spain, expect flawless fine dining in a magnificent atmosphere at Goya. The high ceilings and huge chandeliers give the restaurant an air of old-world opulence, and the terrace next to the Prado and Thyssen Museums is a unique place to dine in Madrid's city centre. The impressive menu includes a spectacular mix of the Spanish gastronomy with classic delicacies and avant-guard creations with the best seasonal products of the local market.

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighbourhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
