The menu is varied and interesting . We're not talking haute cuisine but they've taken care to find very good food at a reasonable price . Their premises are really top notch although on the two occasions I've been there the service was variable. They don't accept reservations and there's a queue to get in from 9pm. Starters from 4... Don't expect miracles: cheap is cheap. And the whole quality resents from it. I wouldn't say the food was bad, but boring. No creativity, no soul, just mediocre ingredients cooked with mediocre cooking skills. Frozen cheese croquettes with a side of ready-to-it salad from a bag, without any dressing, boring wines by the glass, indifferent staff. If you can pay... More

This is a must in Madrid. Very good food for a very very good price. The quality of the service and the food is excellent. I read some other comments saying that the service was not nice at all. I completly desagree. The people there is making a great job. We will come back!

We love having lunch at this spot. The food is great and the service is wonderful. My favorite is "arroz negro". The local beer "la chula" is worth trying. The selection of vines is quite acceptable. Do not change.

Very nice and very busy restaurant near Gran Via. Good choice of wonderful food for reasonable prices. Good wine selection.

Quite a big restaurant but still charming. Plenty of people, so a bit noisy but not a bug issue. All dishes we tried were pretty good and cheaper than expected, as the restaurant may look a bit posh from outside. Service was good and fast. I'll come back again

Was there with a friend. We choose several little dishes with cheese, pulpo, etc. and a nice bottle of Ribera del Duero and came out with a very appropriate cheque of 42 EUR. The food was fresh, taste excellent and it was a signature experience. Be aware the restaurant opens at 8:30pm and fills up fast until 9:30 ....

Nice restaurant, great atmosphere. Restaurant is big and the waiters are very busy. Service is friendly Nice food, relative large portions of good quality. When you want for lunch or dinner a nice Spanish or international meal for a good price in a good atmosphere this is the place to be. Reasonable prices, value for money. We will be back.

Looks better than it is. Service is fast but not attentive. Menu is fine but food comes so quickly than I suppose it is microvawed. It is cheap and chic but the quality is not chic.

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
