This is a great tapa bar filled with locals but friendly towards tourists. The mushroom caps were great. Highly recommended.

The mushrooms were awesome, and more than justify the inconveniences. The bar area was small and crowded. There were large tourist groups coming in and out. But we managed to work our way to the bar to order two glasses of sangria and a plate...More

Our first night in Madrid, we went to Meson del Champinon, and ordered more than just the mushrooms. The learning is that if you go there, only plan on staying for a plate of mushrooms and a drink, and then go somewhere else. The food...More

There are a million tapas places in Madrid. And then there's the Meson del Champinon. Given the street it is located on, you'd figure this place is entirely touristy. And it does get tourists in droves, but you'll also find locals here. We were first...More

Never thought I’d visit a restaurant and order a plate of mushrooms but so glad we did. Quirky little restaurant which incidentally serves more than mushrooms it is well worth a visit for a quick beer and snack.

I would never have gone in this place as it seemed overly touristy with food pictures and many national flags. However, a local introduced me to this place and we went two nights in a row -- the sangria was fantastic and the mushrooms were...More

We visited the House of Mushrooms twice as we loved it so much. The mushrooms were delicious and the staff very attentive. The barmen didn’t mind posing for a photo even though they were extremely busy. This place should be on the top of your...More

Is "Meson del Champinon" a tourist tarp? Well, yes it probably is, but we love it anyway. And we always visit it when in Madrid. It is one of those things you always do when you visit your favourite city. Vine/sangria is fine. Champignons and...More

We stopped for lunch and we were not disappointed. The menu is on a tablet in multiple languages, so ordering is easy! Get the mushrooms and ham for sure. Yes, it’s a tourist area, but the food and service are great, and so is the...More

Ok, so this is a very touristy spot. Understood. Still, the food is good, the service is on point and the atmosphere is memorable. Definitely worth a visit!

Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street
performers, colorful lights, window shopping,
restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and
churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a
collection of plazas interconnected by a network of
side streets. Some of these side streets are wide
pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so

I am not sure of the hours but they were open during the day around lunch time through late at night. Several times when we walked by they were open. I hope you stop in!
