Restaurant El Escarpin attracts the local people, serves authentic and well prepared meals - and LARGE portions - with a smile and a charming attitude. The food is not haute cuisine but the cooking is based on traditional receipts - and if you are HUNGRY...More

The food options encompassed great, ordinary and disappointing. The octopus was the best dish. The black paella was very liquid and we complained. There was no quibbling, their compensation was better than we expected.

We had the seafood paella which had a nice amount of seafood in the rice and tomato mix. You need to work at getting the shells off the shrimp and scampi. Expect to get your fingers dirty!

Recommended by our hotel, this was our experience of Asturian food. Delicious, and large portions for a reasonable price. Couldn't believe the low overall score when I checked TripAdvisor. The waiters English is not great which can lead to some confusion. This is my problem,...More

Chance upon this restaurant after our visit from Basilica, almost left the restaurant because of the long queue, so glad we didnt just leave! We had Paella and Mussels, there were fantastic, one of the most sumptuous Paella hands down. They also recommended a red...More

Good food starting with breaded veal with cheese and then roast kid, which was a first for me, both very tasty. A mix up over wine rather spoiled the over all effect, requested a half bottle of white wine, not a available, so opted for...More

Little bit of arrogant service but great asturian food. Huge portions, also big salads and appetizers. Very good, authentic asturian dry cider aerated at the table with funny aerator machine. Pixin al horno and Rodaballo were very tasty. Simple asturian decor and central location

Delightful bar/bistro just off Calle del Arenal and Puerta del Sol. Friendly service with excellent rioja (inexpensive). Asturian cuisine with extra large portions -- recommend two platters, jamon with "sausage" and assorted cheeses. Sit in the bar near the windows. Definitely recommend!

Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street
performers, colorful lights, window shopping,
restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and
churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a
collection of plazas interconnected by a network of
side streets. Some of these side streets are wide
pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so
it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as
