We had a nice dinner here. We ordered several dishes, which were all very nice and tasty, although quite basic. Staff was very friendly and helpfull with the spanish menu. I would definitely recommend it.

Excellent tapas food and local cuisine. Nice wine collection. Have been there twice and will definitely come back again. A must see when in Madrid.

Reservations for upstairs restaurant, none needed for downstairs. Good atmosphere, no pretensions, excellent, speedy and welcoming service and huge selection of tapas of all varieties. Ideal for lunch or light dinner.

Very nice tapas bar in a quiet and rather fancy neighbourhood. We tried out some of the pinchos which all were nice, especially with a couple of glasses of cava. Also recommended with kids as both the setting and area are rather soft.

Took the train and got down at Velazquez and then it is a couple of hundred metres of walking distance. I reached by 8pm or thereabouts and it was alive. Got myself a seat at the bar (when solo I usually prefer it) The bartender was a lovely Spanish lady and suggested me some good wine 1. Ordered the Foie... More

Every neighborhood has a spot where they know your name....and your drink of choice. Estay is a local favorite for the barrio Salamanca neighborhood. Generous tapas, interesting, diverse items....available during that dark Madrid period after lunch before Madrid's classic 8:30 dinner hour. Don't miss it!

A simply superb restaurant, slightly tucked away off the main drag, and populated by Madrid diners - the surest sign of excellence. We had lunch on Saturday, at 2pm (everything is an hour or two later in Spain, but you soon adjust to that). No booking needed; there's a steady throughput of diners, either at tables in the air-conditioned main... More

Try as many tapas as you can, but start with the tortilla. One of the best in Madrid. This place attracts tourists and locals alike. Not pricey and in a great part of town.

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
