I was tired from walking and decided to sit down for lunch. The restaurant was small and the menu only has a few items. I ordered a risotto in mushroom sauce and it was the best tasting risotto I had, or may be I was too tire and too hungry.

Is it possible to get a bad meal in Rome? I don't think so as tonight we uncovered another gem around the corner from our hotel. We had melt in the mouth gnocchi, very flavorful fettuccine with artichokes, artichokes roman style and a puntarelle salad. With a small bottle of local wine, a moist almond cake and water the bill... More

We came to this restaurant early on a Monday evening as it was recommended by our hotel. It was relatively quiet as we got there just after it opened, and were greeted with friendly cheerful staff, who showed us to our table. However, as the evening we were found being rushed to take our order, which you would expect if... More

We have visited thus restaurant over many years when we come to Rome. It continues to be if high quality with god support from local clientele. Staff are most helpful and friendly, food is of good quality , wines very drinkable and prices acceptable.

We asked the night clerk at our hotel where he'd recommend for dinner, it was 9pm and we were tired and didn't want to go back to the historic centre. He said the two in the same block are both good, and i leoni is less expensive. So we took less expensive, taking a risk by trusting someone we just... More

A nice cosy little place with unusual decor. The first course - rigatoni - was tasty, if a little al dente for me. The second... steak with green pepper sauce...lacked flavour. A nice piece of meat but not terribly memorable. My companion would have given it a 3.5.... but we both agreed there are nicer places (of similar price) to... More

Was a little skeptical at first as it was on the sidewalk next to a fairly busy street. Not a lot of ambiance but we were tired and hungry. The food was great. Don't recall what we ordered but it was excellent. Fairly close to the train station but not much touristy around. Good inexpensive meal for a last night... More

This restaurant had been recommended to us by the concierge at our hotel. He had suggested a place to us the previous night which did good food with good portion sizes for an average price. We were very pleased with it, so we decided to try this restaurant out as it was more up market than the previous restaurant. It... More

Had a perfectly decent evening meal in here and I have no complaints, though I am not convinced it was great value for money. But certainly no bad experience and the staff were pleasant and welcoming.

We have just arrived in Rome. Wow! Off to a great start!!! The dinner was excellent! Prosciutto with melon and pasta. Fillipo is the server you want. Oh and don't forget to order the pistachio gelato.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
