Anthony Bourdain wasn't overselling this little gem of a restaurant at all. It really is that good. It's tucked away in a little side street in the Trastevere area, just off a main road. But just follow the smell of fresh bread and cacio e pepe and you can't miss it. We arrived for a relatively early dinner time and... More

Located in a quieter section in the eastern part of Trastevere and a little hard to find, this place ranked towards the top of the restaurants we visited. As the evening progressed, the place filled mostly with Italians. Service was great - the waiter was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Great menu and excellent food, including the cacio... This restaurant was recommended to us. It was supposed to open at 12.30pm and so I booked an outside table for my family of 5 at 12.30pm on our last day in Rome. We were under some time pressure as we fly out that evening. Upon arriving at the empty restaurant a 12.30pm we were told it was not open... More

We arrived late and they were shutting up so were happy to go with the recommended dishes which were the specialities. The artichoke and stuffed courgette flowers for the 1st plate and then the cacao e pepe which is outstanding! The extra touch v's anywhere else we tried it was the cheese bowl. More expensive than many others in the... More

My former boss recommended this place when she and her husband visited a few years ago. They actually played detective and sought it out from an Anthony Bourdain show that would not name it by name. Whenever someone raves about a place, you have to be a bit apprehensive but Roma Sparita totally lived up to the raves. Each dish... More

Wow wow wow. The cacio e Pepe is amazing served in the cheese crust bowls takes it to a new level. The textures were quite phenomenal. With every bite you get the crispy cheese bowl, the savory of the pasta and the pepper was perfect. We also had the fried artichoke which was also amazing, and the zucchini flower n... More

Ideally located an a quiet piazza, outside the rush and noise of the streets, we enjoyed a delicious meal on their cozy terrace. The waiters were funny, and caring, offering nice tips about the specialties of the menu. We enjoyed very much the pasta "cacio e pepe ", served in a crust of parmigiano. Prices were absolutely compared to the... More

We arrived at opening time-12:30-and were quickly seated outside. We ordered appetizers (stuffed olives, rice balls), pasta and wine. Food was excellent and service was very professional. This is a very comfortable place for lunch in Rome and prices are very reasonable. I think we would not have been seated quickly if we had come later.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
