We had a meal here while in Rome on a family trip. The staff were very polite and helpful choosing our wine, which was very good , The tonnarelli cacio e pepe was delicious and we enjoyed the drama of the waiter mixing the dish in front of us . Also the abbachio al forno was so tasty, we had... More

Visited the restaurant last Saturday. Was extremely busy , we had to book a week in advance and only got a sitting for 21.45. The food was ok, no more no less. Famous caccio Pepe was average , nothing special ,I have tried better for sure. The rest of the food was just ok. The service was rough. The place... More

I found this restaurant by looking at Italian language reviews on TripAdvisor and that raised my expectations for a not too touristy restaurant serving simple local specialities. Instead we walked into a very touristy restaurant that had the air of an "institution." Fine, if the food was good and the service was pleasant. But instead I found the food mediocre... More

Wow...bustling restaurant full of locals who want something special and thats exactly what you get...something special. A contemporary twist on Italian classics, so much choice!! There is also a really knowledgable but unpretentious sommelier who recommended a perfect Italian wine for me (I'm quite fussy as I only drink white wine and I love new world Sauvignon Blanc), it was... This is a very well known popular classic up market roman restaurant. Most taxi drivers that know their job can get you there without difficulty. It is not in the sticks by any means but in a residential area away from the army of people hassling you to buy selfie sticks. Make no mistake, this restaurant serves excellent food with... More

Very welcoming, busy with locals at lunch. Good traditional Roman cooking and the best carciofi alla romana ever.

... if you want to visit this restaurant and enjoy their fantastic pasta, cooked on perfect way. Unfortunately the roasted lamb was finished so we tried some other dishes - simple, but very tasty. The wine list is very good as well.

This is the ultimate restaurant experience. This place knows what it does well and continues to focus on that, day in, day out. Cacio e Pepe (a type of cheese and pepper with pasta) is the house speciality, and it didn't disappoint. There was the theatre of the waiters individually spinning/mixing the pasta with the cheese and pepper, table side.... More

This was the first restaurant recommended by our local Roman friends, but we needed 3 days to make a reservation....so plan ahead. Seems tucked away from the beaten path, but the restaurant is alive with energy and courteous service. We had the veal, carbonara and the pollo ala romana....all very satisfying. Thankfully, they have an in house sommelier that will... More

Staying in Testaccio

Neighbourhood Profile
Put the house music on replay and you have Testaccio, an ancient Roman port and former working class neighbourhood where the bass is set to high almost every night of the week. Its collection of discoteche (nightclubs), street parties, and crowded restaurants give it its well-deserved party reputation. During the daytime, Testaccio is more easy listening than club hit, the area is full of locally owned small businesses and has one of the city's larger produce markets.
