Went with 10 people from our tour for a lovely dinner. The service was excellent, the food was fresh and delicious, the prices were reasonable. We had a wonderful time.

We went to return to a little place opposite here but found it closed - so elected to try the Donati. Avoid the tourist menu as it offers western style chicken & chips - but the pasta dishes were great. We had lasagne, a spaghetti carbonara, eggplant parmigiana, 2 desserts, 500 ml bottle of wine & tried some grappa all... More

Ate outside in the sunshine on our last day to Rome. This was the best restaurant out of all. The menu had a good selection to choose from and is not badly priced. We found the staff very helpful to all they met. Yes you will charged for the bread that you did not ask for but this is the... More

I'd eat here again! Great service from start to finish. Family owned restaurant so they definitely are on top of their quality! Owners are very friendly and work hard clearing tables and greeting guests. Great food! The spaghetti carbonara was the best I've eaten in Rome! Great bruschetta and calamari. Great prices too! Definitely don't miss dining here if you're... More

There was a lovely warm welcome the first night we went and the second time we were remembered and made to feel very welcome. We were persuaded to have the bruchetta to start with - and were very glad we did as it was delicious. My husband very much enjoyed his steak with tomato sauce and my lasagne was lovely.... More

Just know that if you eat the table bread they will charge you...and assume the change is a tip despite tipping not being customary. Good experience up till the end when it sunk. Will not return.

Having been recommended this place by our hotel receptionist, we went for dinner around 6:30pm on a Sunday night and got a table for two immediately, no reservation needed. The waiter who served us was very friendly (the others weren't as smiley!) and he served us efficiently. We got a basket of bread and breadsticks once we'd sat down, and... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
