After peering through the door, we walked in and through the cold reception area, up the winding stairs to a traditionally decorated warm eating area. We had no idea what the food was going to be like, at first we thought we had made a mistake, there was only 2 other people eating. The host, understood to be the owner... More

My fianceé and I visited Rome as part of a 12 day tour of Italy. We just happened to come across this restaurant and thought we'd give it a try. The best dish I ate during this vacation was the amatriciana from this restaurant.

We went there with my kids and some friends, whom truth to tell knew well the owner. We were treated extremely well but even everything we ate was great. The antipasti bar is excellent with a good variety of marinated vegetables, anchovies, marinated salmon or eggplant. Oh boy. Then we all ordered some pasta dishes which were well done and... More

We had a nice lunch here, it was a little late in the afternoon so it was easy to get a table. The food was good and so was the service.

I really enjoyed a delicious and authentic Roman "pranzo" here last week. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The selection of courses was interesting. A great find!

I've been coming here for over 10 years - what a great place. I hope no one reads some ignorant people who wrote dumb reviews - especially a July 2016 review by someone so ridiculous that it prompted me to respond. He said the pasta was "undone" hahaha what a crazy person that is called "al dente" - also in... More

We visited this restaurant in 2007 during our first visit to Rome. We enjoyed our meal so much we decided to return on this visit. It's located on the second floor and has a palazzo feel to it. It's clearly an old world, traditional Roman style restaurant. At first it may be easy to be put off by the lack... More

From the outside it lookes OK, you see the beautiful ceilings from the street. Go up to on the stairs, and then you are in an old palazzo from pres. 1400. Walls, 1 m. thick. OK, nice reception, the few visitors were all Italian, that's OK. We had the lamb from the oven, and the primi: pasta funghi and prosciutto.... More

There was only a few people at the restaurant but because of the good review on tripadvisor we decided to give it a chance. We had a spaghetti carbonara and the house homemade pasta with spicy salami. The pasta was not cooked enough and it tasted like something you can buy frozen from the supermarket and cook in a microwave.... More

This is a traditional Roman style restaurant that serves home-made pasta with the highest quality. We were five and had the Bolognese (one of the best we ever had), pasta with truffles (great) and Al'arbiatta (another great dish). Food was absolutely great and in reasonable prices. The problem was with the service... There is one, grumpy waiter that seems to... More

Staying in Colonna

Neighbourhood Profile
Frantic fashionistas, pedicured politicos, goal-oriented tourists, and on-the-go locals cross paths every day in Colonna, a delightful chaos in the very centre of the city. Even though it has some of the city’s loveliest sites—a 2nd century column, Belle Epoque shopping centre, and a magnificent Baroque parliament building—Colonna is not just another pretty face, but the cosmopolitan eye of Rome’s cultural storm. Colonna can safely say it has the best of Rome: museums, boutiques, window displays, restaurants, cafes, and people watching.
