Wonderful setting not far from st Peter's square. Good mix of food and incredible service. Clean restrooms.

The food in this restaurant is pretty good. I ordered roast chicken with potatoes and my husband had bolognese. Unfortunately, there were flies swarming around us for our entire meal. One went into my husband's wine, and I found two on my chicken. I therefore stopped eating as I couldn't enjoy my food knowing that there had been a fly... More

We were a group of ten persons who arrived to this place. It was only one man who worked and he had other customers! But still, he took orders from us and we had everything in 10 minutes! Lovely coffees, and exquisite sandwiches! Don't hesitate to order the toasts!

Worst service ever. We arrived after we visited the Vatican and we waited for more than 30 to order the food. In addition to this , the waiter was bothered because we called him twice ( in 30 min). He didn't even apologize when he came to our table instead he said: ok bye- (for us to leave if we... More

We stopped for a late lunch at il Papalino. It was classically Roman with professional but not friendly service. The food was very slow as there were only 2 people working, a waiter and a cook. That said, once the food came it was good and not expensive.

We were staying very close by so we stopped here for dinner for our first night in Rome. We each had a different pasta. The meal was good. Service was pretty good. Only annoying part was the musicians that play and than the restaurant allows them to go around and stick a cup in your face for tips...I do not... More

The location is wonderful, the food unremarkable, but the experience was made worse by the annoying itinerant men with musical instruments. At one point there was a horrifying accordionist competing (it seemed) with an equally horrific violinist. These peripatetic minstrels of musical mediocrity were like a pestilence. Avoid.

Decent food, but not something you would recommend to your friends. Fairly bland food. One table got the wrong food but started eating from it. A couple of minutes later the staff brought it back and served it (partially eaten) to the right table. That knocks my rating down from 3 to 2. Or put differently the food isn't bad,... More

Initially we were disappointed with the pizza in Rome. This one had a very good pizza and even better a spagetti with sheep cheese and black pepper.

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighbourhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighbourhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighbourhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
