We got there by recommendation of a friend and it was worth it. Very good simple italian food for a reasonable price. We'll definitely come back when we're back in Rome.

Simple, tasty fare and friendly service. Family atmosphere... maybe too much: the owner's daughters screamed and ran back and forth during our whole meal. We were happy to leave.

It is a shame. I live in Rome and I am used to Italian and Roman cuisine. Trastevere is a district where you can find a lot of *very* good restaurants, but also a lot of awful ones like this Da Paolo. First of all when you enter you have to face a disgusting smell of old fried oil mixed... More

Friendly staff, genuine (you can communicate, but do not expect any English, but that's every place in Rome). We took a 50% pre-booking offer, through trip advisor and forky, and the offer was totally respected on behalf of the restaurant. Good house wine. Try the homemade pasta!

I have been visiting Trastevere in the last days, after many years I moved abroad. I am from Rome and I lived in Trastevere for more 10 years. The reason why I am writing in English is simple: I wanna suggest to the tourists visiting Trastevere where a real `trattoria romana` can be found and not. Here, Da Paolo, you... More

A hidden gem in the less touristy side of Trastevere. Family trattoria with a menu concentrating in Roman cuisine, such as cacio e pepe. Worth walking a couple of hundreds meters extra in order to see more genuine atmosphere to those touristy spots near Tiber.

We happened upon da Paolo one evening as we were headed to listen to music. There was something about its non-pretentiousness that made us decide to return the next day for lunch. While certainly not the best restaurant we have eaten at in Roma, it has a charm onto itself that will make it a regular stop when we return... More

Me and my boyfriend went to this restaurant and became very disappointed. The waitress started to open a Wine we didn't order - or wanted, without even checking on what we wanted to drink or eat. The staff was extremely rude and talked only italian with us - even though we said several times that we didn't understand any italian.... More

Went there because of the TripAdvisor 50% discount. I don't know if it was because we didn't speak Italian or whatever the problem was. We were treated as if Satan himself had just visited their restaurant. We wanted to leave, right after the bottle of wine that we didn't even order, was opened. Followed by a rant of meals in... Little and friendly trattoria in the heart of trastevere. We served typical roman and italian dishes.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
