Really this restaurant did nothing wrong, but it was just ordinary. The setting is not great its in a courtyard come car park in a residential back road so no view you would want either. The artichokes they are famed for was the best element...More

Everyone visiting Rome must come and experience this restaurant. Not only was the food excellent (artichoke tart and spaghetti and clams - just to mention a few) but the service was outstanding. Just about the time we were going to leave the restaurant, an unexpected...More

Delightful. From the moment we arrived at this Roman institution in its ochre walled piazza, you just knew the evening was going to be special. The charming maitre'd (owner, I presume) seated us at a beautiful table in the coveted outside area, and magical is...More

Wow - what an outstanding experience. I would come back here in a heartbeat. The restaurant is located in a quiet alley and has outdoor seating. The vibe is intimate and quaint. The service was lovely as well. We started with the artichokes which I'd...More

I made a reservation at Piperno prior to our trip primarily because it’s one of the oldest restaurants in Rome and the reviews were good. We never got as far as the food. My maps app showed the location to be a 6 minute walk...More

This venerable institution is spectacular. The artichoke giudia is always the best but the risotto or spaghetti pescatora is one of the finest dishes I have ever eaten. Top that off with excellent and perfectly prepared fish or traditional Roman dishes and you have an...More

Classic decoration, excellent service and delicious food. It was quiet inside and people kept their conversations to a respectful tone. A haven in the city. Made our day.

Piperno has been around for a long while; but somehow in all my trips to Rome, I only now finally had their legendary fried artichokes. Honestly, I did line the whole meal, but I was so blown away with the fried, Jewish style artichokes that...More

I really liked the dinner we had here. Ok, the restaurant is a bit pricey, but the food is amazing. The service and the atmosphere made us feel as if in another era, and we did enjoyed it. I would recommend the wonderful "carciofi alla...More

We checked other reviews but also had a recommendation from friends who had been to this venerable restaurant (dating back to the 1860s) many years ago on their honeymoon. Full of hope, we arrived through rain to find a hushed, half empty space, which was...More

This is what happen, when someone who has zero(better under zero) knowledge about roman kitchen and try to play to " I'm a gourmet " I quote: "The zucchini flowers (fried a la tempura), tasted of fish and I can only conclude that they had...More

Hi Barb S. As other Trip Advisors have suggested, its a fair distance/walk from St. Peters and i would personally take a taxi. Re the language...we had absolutely no trouble in conversing with our waiter.
