Friendly service, a fabulous view in the main square in Trastevere, watching the world go by as we enjoyed fabulous food with the sites and sounds of Rome around us.

I went to Sabatini after a walking tour which finished near by; the guide suggested this place and said she has had good meals there. After sampling it, I do not disagree. The food was good, quite simple local food, not particularly tourist oriented. Service was not bad. You just have to watch the bill. They gave me the bill... More

Went to this place on a recommendation. The meal started out nicely, and the food was good. This is where the story goes downhill. When it came time to pay the bill, our waiter presented us with only a credit card receipt, with a total, and then said that "a tip for the wait staff is appreciated." After signing, and... More

We came across this restaurant at lunchtime and as we hadn't had a spaghetti dish in Rome, chose the spaghetti carbonaro which is cooked with egg and ham, It's the best we've eaten! Apologise to other Italian restaurants who claim to make the best spaghetti - but we didn't have time to try you all. The service was excellent. The... More

This restaurant is in a nice spot on a square and good for people watching so I suppose that's why you pay the premium. The food and service is very average. I could easily cook the meal I had at home myself and I am not Italian and have few cooking skills! The food is obscenely over prized and left... More

We have been at Sabatini restaurant in Trastevere, waiting to have an excellent dinner. The reputation of the establishment led us to decide to pay prices which are at least 50% higher than the other restaurants, expecting something special. We ordered two first dishes, a bottle of house wine and two main course dishes (fettucini and risotto) which had to... More

A friend and I ate here for our first meal in Rome four years ago and we absolutely loved the place. Upon my return I told my husband how wonderful it was and wanted to make it our first meal again... and boy was I disappointed. It was not nearly as good, plus the service was lackluster. My friend and... More

Feel compelled to write about how shockingly bad tmy recent experience at this restaurant has been! The menu is quite extensive and expensive. The food itself when presented is basic and tasteless. Our waiter was friendly enough upon arrival, but paid little attention thereafter. I wanted to order a glass of red wine with dinner and was presented in quite... More

We found the Trastavere neighborhood to be an interesting stroll. One of the highlights was sitting at Sabatini to people-watch, and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
