Stumbled upon this place after a long day of sightseeing. Simple dishes done exceptionally well. I don't normally go for pasta but new that I had to have some in Rome. So glad i did here as it was absolutely exceptional.

We found this place just by walking by. Price level is roughly double than normal. We paid approx. 80€ as a couple sharing a starter, main dish and an espresso each. After trying out different food in Rome from street snacks to a Michelin star restaurant we were very satisfied with this one. Best value for money, the service was... More

I first ate at this restaurant, finding it by chance, last June and had superb, fresh Italian food in a delightful setting in the piazza. This trip was on a miserable wet day, with a Roman friend as my guest. She's quite discerning and was entirely delighted. The antipasti buffet was extensive and exquisite...she guided me to the carciofi alla... More

1. Scrumptious foods prepared by a team of 3 expert chefs, 2. Pampered service by well trained, old style waiters of yesteryear, 3. Classic and luxurious environment, 4. Central location 5. Value is commensurate with premium quality of food, service & environment All equal WOW! It is one of my favorite restaurants in Roma!

Located in a quiet square off the tourist track. Upscale white tablecloth restaurant. On the expensive side but they are happy to let you look at a menu before you sit down so there shouldn't be any surprises (except perhaps the €4 pp cover charge). Very well prepared dishes - we mostly stuck to the specials of the day -... More

A late lunch after a long morning see the ancient sites. Vecchia Roma is in a small Piazza near the Capitoline Hill. We sat outside in the late summer sun, eating great food and drinking chilled Frascati and do have dessert-they are to die for !

Luncheon during the week, pleasant outdoor experience. Staff and manager exceptionally accommodating and welcoming. Food presentation and quality as expected in Rome for this level of establishment, as were the prices.

Having arrived in Rome late evening we were just wanted some where close to our accommodation. The food here was good 2 of us had a seafood pasta which was really tasty. The desserts where good if some of the discriptions were a bit out of the ordinary. The staff here were helpful.

After visiting the Jewish Ghetto found this nice restaurant on a quiet square with good food and nice wait staff. Prices are typical for Rome but quality better than the touristy restaurants near by. Definitely recommend this spot with outside tables on the quiet square.

Great service with personable staff, gorgeous mini piazza with beautiful buildings surrounding it. Quiet and dignified place for lunch on a very hot day after hours of museum walking. An oasis in the shade. The food was outstanding from the starters to the pastas, nothing boring here and quite simply delish!

Staying in Ghetto

Neighbourhood Profile
The mini-neigbourhood Ghetto holds tight to its reputation as a stand-alone area thanks to its nearly 300-year history as the home to Rome’s Jewish community. Times changed in the 20th century, but the tiny area still retains its mix of tradition, community, and history. Ancient and medieval architectural design frames apartments, bakeries, shops, and restaurants. Friends and families are the pulse of the neighbourhood, keeping company on the Via del Portico d’Ottavia. The Ghetto observes the traditional Jewish Shabbat: businesses close from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown.
