We went here for both a lunch and dinner and had a great experience for each. The house wines were fantastic as well as the meat/cheese appetizer platter. Bucatini was delicious, got this meal twice! Definitely recommend for anyone in the area.

We came here with a friend who lives in Rome as it is one of his favourites and we insisted on returning for our last night of holiday! Lovely traditional ambiance and very friendly staff! Both visits we ate a great Fritto Misto consisting of the best suppli, crispy battered fish, breaded olives stuffed with sausage meat (YUM), fiori di... More

Looking for a decent restaurant proved to be a bit of a mission in popular Trastevere. The sidewalk cafes and the takeaway joints all touted too-familiar experiences. Fraschetta proved to be different. The interior was a bit predictable with gingham red tablecloths and festoons of garlic and Chianti bottles, but the food made up for it. The pizza was leaps... The restaurant is just off the main Viale Trastevere and is unassuming from the outside but looked welcoming and cosy. Staff pleasant and friendly. We were sat in the rear of the restaurant but equally cosy but no windows. Plenty of locals, as well as tourists, eating so that's always encouraging as locals don't eat where the food isn't good.... From Pasta to Pizza or also the Scramoza were excellent. The Pizza an Pasta came fast but I just got the Scramoza (grilled cheese) after the others finished eating about 30 min.

It is not terrible but the restaura is over rated by TripAdvisor users. Guess the owner has a lot of friends and cousins. The trattoria is located in a poor and badly maintained street. The outside look is very poor. We've been invited in a room very dark without windows and dusty. The toilets are awful, similar to Italian public... More

Very cosy and friendly atmosphere. Doesn't look like Much from the outside but the food and the Staf is very very good. I hade Spagetthi fruti di mare (seafood) and it was simply amazing. The price is more Than reasonable We Will come here again next time in Rome.

Had a wonderful meal. The salads were fresh, the main courses were full of taste and were large portions. Comfort food in a casual home-like atmosphere. We will be back!

We had dinner with our Airbnb host and her partner who are both locals because they highly recommended this place. It's a cosy and local hideaway, and if you don't have a reservation, be prepared to stand in queue. When we were there for dinner it was a super busy and the wait staff seem a bit overwhelmed. They were... More

I recently visited this restaurant with work colleagues whilst away on a work trip, and I was celebrating my birthday. The evening was amazing - the food, ambiance and service was very traditional and ensured we all had a fabulous evening. I have since recommended this restaurant to another friend who has informed me she had a fantastic evening here... More

"La Fraschetta" di via San Francesco a Ripa è caratteristico, intimo e grazioso; propone un servizio cordiale e brillante, candidandosi senza difficoltà sia come ideale rifugio per una coppia in cerca di riservatezza sia per cene di lavoro e ritrovi amicali in una cornice neorustica e famigliare. La cucina, tendenzialmente vincolata alla nostra adorabile tradizione romana, spazia, con stile, dalla coda alla vaccinara agli spaghetti alla carbonara. Dolci sempre fatti in casa. Molto buona la carta dei vini; non mancano bianco e rosso della casa. Il locale è stato inaugurato nel 1976: lo staff proviene dalle esperienze di Ciceruacchio e Meo Patacca.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
