The service was friendly, the food was amazing (especially the Tortello was great). The prices also were reasonable for a place like Rome. Definitely a place to visit.

The pasta was excellent and the pizza was just right. I would surely recommend this place to friends. Ask for the spaghetti with meat sauce, great option. The ambient is amazingly clean and organized while maintaining the classical look.

I found this trattoria while looking for lunch in the Monti area. It was perfect, good food, reasonable prices, great service. I'm a female over 60, travelling by myself & I felt very comfortable and welcomed in this trattoria.

After eating at Trattoria Monti in 2015, I spent the year dreaming of their red onion flan with gorgonzola. Could it possibly be as delicious as I remembered? YES IT CAN! 2016 and we were back in Rome. Had another amazing meal at this authentic and friendly restaurant. We had fun practicing our Italian and while my husband took the... More

I was in Rome and did not want to do only the tourist stuff. The concierge of my apartment reserved a table for me at this restaurant... Amazing food, great service! I went back 3 times during my week there. Well located.

The surrounding are not nice at all. But I have this place as a good place to go. Since we entered the place we love it. Very friendly, with it own style, you are welcome. The food is very very good. We tried the pasta and was really good. Good prices and good food. Definitely will come back. Congratulations for... More

Monti has an onslaught of restaurant openings which have arrived over the last years creating a "cool" image for food & wine the area. For me, many of them fall very short of delivering a solid experience; the classics always reign. There you have Trattoria Monti. Family Run with helpful and inviting service: Check. Truly Great Food: Check. Truly Great... More

All the food we ordered was excellent (fried vegetables like fiore di zuccha, penne with saussage and a cake of jelly and strawberry). The service was very kind, and the restaurant is cozy

Our family dined in Trattoria Monti last summer. Everything was perfect! The waiter was hilarious (our kids loved that), food was excellent and the atmosphere delightful. We ordered a set menu with local specialities, kids had pasta. We arrived very early, actually immediately after the restaurant was open for diners. That was a good move since we didn't have a... This was a good restaurant offering several specialty plates. We particularly liked the stuffed, fried olives and the sensational large raviolo with spinich, ricotta cheese and a fried egg. Their pasta selection was great and offered cooking styles from many different regions. A fun place with a fun staff and very good food.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
