A friend recommended this place so my family and I had high expectations, however I was disappointed. We were seated straight away, but the chairs were really uncomfortable and we had to wait a long time to even get the waiter's attention. When he finally acknowledged us and got some menus, he pretty much threw them on the table, along... More

We have tried the top-rated pizzerias in Testaccio and elsewhere but this place has the best pizza we have ever had in Rome. The dough, sauce, and toppings just go together so well.

A great place to eat and chat with your friends. Pizza with tuna and onions is a masterpiece. Very busy with local people of all ages.

This is a pizzeria for locals, but we felt very welcome. No English menu, and not much English spoken or understood, so you should know some italian before you arrive, at least enough to know what kind of pizza you order. No fancy interior. This is about the food, and that's definitely worth the visit! The pizzas are excellent, and... More

We arrived when the pizzeria had just opened. We were almost alone. However, at 7.30 p.m. the place was packed with a good atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful and we had the best pizza during our trip so far. I went for the pizza pomodoro (with a tasty tomatosaus) and my husband for the pizza salciccia (with pork... In the eternal competition between Nuovo Mondo and Pizzeria Da Remo two blocks away ... Nuovo Mondo wins! It's just more friendly, more attentive. They never, ever, treat you as 'just a tourist'. And the pizzas are great.

Pizzas are exquisite. Bistecca nicely done. Excellent for people-watching. The white bubbly wine surprisingly nice for its price. Bruschetta alla melanzane - recommended. Not your usual tomato bruschetta, this is an aubegine one, but it's lovely.

We visited this restaurant twice at the recommendation of a Roman friend who lives in Testaccio. We sat inside the well air-conditioned restaurant and ordered a series of salads and thin pizzas, along with vino della casa. The bill ended up being about $10 per person. The arugula with cherry tomatoes salad was particularly delicious. So were the onion w... More

This was such a cool find. Don't let the simple atmosphere and decor fool you, the food is great and really amazing value! They open at 7:00 pm, and if you are not there by about 7:30, you will have to wait for a table. It is lively and full of families with kids. We don't speak Italian, but were... More

Staying in Testaccio

Neighbourhood Profile
Put the house music on replay and you have Testaccio, an ancient Roman port and former working class neighbourhood where the bass is set to high almost every night of the week. Its collection of discoteche (nightclubs), street parties, and crowded restaurants give it its well-deserved party reputation. During the daytime, Testaccio is more easy listening than club hit, the area is full of locally owned small businesses and has one of the city's larger produce markets.
