Small and cosy trattoria only seating about 25 people. Well worth the trip to Testaccio. Best parmigiana in a long time, cacio e pepe and then veal and sausage. Good food and good value to.

My friend and I had dinner at Lo Scopettaro on a saturday night. We were lucky enough to find an empty table as it was fully booked! We ordered one Rigatoni alla carbonara and one Tonnarelli cacio e pepe and the food was unreal! We had still water and a bottle of red wine to drink. It all came for... More

I always have a problem when reviewing the restaurant that is so highly evaluated and I did not like. I always ask a question that maybe I do not know what the real local food should taste like. This time, we were tempted by good reviews on tripadvisor, and all 6 of us did not like the food. It was... More

Went here for our last dinner in Rome. What a way to end on a high note! The homemade fettuccine with porcini was perfectly cooked and marvelous. Also, it was a very generous portion. We followed with roasted veal in wine which was also terrific. The house wine is quite good as we're the contorni and the dolci. The cuisine... More

Picked this restaurant off Trip Advisor, turned up w no booking and was delighted with choice. Roman specialties such as tripe, ox tail etc may not be to everyone's tastes, but when in Rome do as a Roman, eh? At night the area is relatively unpromising arriving on foot, but by taxi would be fine. in day light I'd say... More

This restaurant is typically roman in its menu and that is great. When we were there, we saw no tourists, just local people coming for dinner. Of course great pasta are available, gnocchis, but also some more specific and typical dishes if you want to give it a try. ( tripes, veal tongue, etc..) Be sure to book in advance.... More

A work colleague brought me here on a day bumbling around the city. There are a few outside and covered tables nestled on the aside of the road; we soon forgot about any traffic passing by. We were there for lunch; most people seemed to be locals. The food is delicious. I had the melanzane parmigiana (aubergine), which was very... More

Fantastic, inexpensive, delicious flavourful traditional Roman cuisine by the side of the Tiber River. Caprese salad and their rigatoni and meatballs were standouts.

Our group of 4 had 3 English and 1 Italian member, who recommended this restaurant having eaten there previously. We ate outside at this restaurant, and, despite it raining, there was a canvas that decently protected us from the elements. For drinks we shared a reasonably priced bottle of house wine and the waiter was very accommodating to our lack... More

Staying in Testaccio

Neighbourhood Profile
Testaccio
Put the house music on replay and you have Testaccio, an ancient Roman port and former working class neighbourhood where the bass is set to high almost every night of the week. Its collection of discoteche (nightclubs), street parties, and crowded restaurants give it its well-deserved party reputation. During the daytime, Testaccio is more easy listening than club hit, the area is full of locally owned small businesses and has one of the city's larger produce markets.
