What a fantastic evening. We were staying in Menton and wanted to head over to Ventimiglia for a meal. We happened open Usteria, and were very fortunate. In a sea of tourist-laden, middling pizza and pasta restaurants this was a true gem. Everything we had was extremely fresh, expertly made and fun. We were especially wowed by their take on... More

Not far from the sea but a million miles away from pizzas and spag bog! This restaurant is a delight. The menu offers 5 starters, 5 main courses and 3 desserts. The brevity of the menu gave rise to expectations that quality would be the focus. And those expectations were realised.pYou may order as a starter small pasta dishes (... More

This is a real find in touristy Ventimiglia -- not a pizza and pasta place, but a genuine Italian ustaria (bistro) that serves traditional home-made food in a pleasant setting close to the sea. The menu is short, with five starters, five mains, and three desserts, all made in-house, and served for both lunch and dinner. The starters include some... More

In a quiet street of the port, this place is a real gem. Small menu(5 different choices of pasta/ ravioli and 6 different suggestions of meat/ fish dishes), but also great suggestions of the day (I had fresh tuna tartar that came with mango). Excellent service, and good wine suggestions. Prices are fair (15 euros on average). Also very healthy... More

We really enjoyed a very pleasant Italian lunch here yesterday with delicious food. The home made ravioli was really lovely and so was the chocolate fondant dessert. I just wish I could go back another time to try the tiramisu. It sounds like it is well worth it! We just stumbled across this place and are very glad we stopped... More

This is an amazing place, a true culinary gem. The menu is simple and the food is deliciously well balanced. The pastas are hand made from scratch daily and the desserts are divine. Just a perfect balance of sweetness and the taste of the ingredients. It's not easy to randomly find an experienced chef that isn't heavy handed with sugar... More

We were very late for lunch and every restaurant had closed but the very friendly owner of Usteria said he could still serve us som dishes, like tartar, which we ordered. The tartar tasted amazing with basil and Parmesan in it. Apparently he makes it different in the winter when he uses other more 'heavy' cheeses. The wine we was... More

We visited this wonderful restaurant twice for dinner. Our host offered us the best hospitality we have experienced in Italy. He patiently described the menu in English, and assisted us in selecting appropriately paired wines. The menu was difficult to choose from as they all sounded amazing! We settled on octopus salad, and a tomato and buffalo mozzarella salad for... More

To cross across the footbridge, leaving behind the madness of the Friday market is good. To discover Usteria D'a Porta Marina is even better. The food is robust Italian: nothing that reinvents the wheel but beautifully cooked. My favourite was the octopus and potato salad, made with pieces of large octopus for a change. The service was friendly and obliging.
