Nice Trattoria on Piazza Masceroni. Good food but without any flavors or new combinations. Friendly elderly lady serving and cooking.

This is an unassuming, charming restaurant in the corner of an old square in Citta Alta. We were welcomed warmly by the proprietor, and served by a friendly waitress who spoke good English. We ate delicious food and thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon.

Our hotel recommended Del Teatro but with so many TA accounts of a rude reception & battle axe service we were slightly fearful of crossing its threshold! So glad we did - it was our favourite meal in Bergamo whilst also being the least fancy & least expensive. We were greeted by the elderly lady owner, admittedly a stern, redoubtable... More

You need to go there with an appetite... This feels like having diner at the Italian grand parents' you wish you had. No loud music, no trendy deco, a very friendly welcome (in Italian, though they have menus in English and in French), and the food, mama mia... Don't miss the polenta with cheese, creamy, generous, tasty, or the veal... More

We stayed in Bergamo Citta Alta for a week and this is one of the restaurants recommended by our hotel. Delightful, the best spaghetti al pomodoro I had all week! Simple, good home made cooking, delicious lemon sorbet. The owner treated us as if we were in her own home, it was a lovely, relaxed supper with lots of good... More

We were suggested by a local, to go there for a right local food. The place was quiet strange, there were only old people- not an issue- but they all saw us wired when we got in. The service not friendly at all with us, (tourists) but friendly with the local. The food was tasty not special, if you have... More

We spent a while roaming the lovely cobbled streets to come across this place and just decided to po in for a drink. We had snacks which were nice, and a few beers/wines. Lovely little find, traditional Italian, nice historic decor, mid-range snacks & prices. Quirky little place but pleasant.

This is a delightful old style restaurant with home made traditional recipies. It is very authentic and no fuss. They pride themselves on the home made Local dishes and wine. The owner seems stern, but it is not the case as she bends over backward to make sure you have a fabulous dining experience. It is a lovely place full... More

In Bergamo, the specialties are Brasato, a pot roast type beef dish with gravy, typically served with polenta (which was invented there), and casoncelli, a narrow beef filled ravioli with olive oil, garlic and cheese. We've spent a fair amount of time in Bergamo and tried these dishes in a few different places, but Trattoria del Teatro truly does it... More
