This is a lovely little place just off the back of the duomo square. The pasta is highly recommended - home made different types and great sauces. Friendly staff and quiet atmosphere despite the closeness to the main tourist area. Had lunch here on the off chance and enjoyed it so went for dinner another night. Waiter remembered us which... I found this restaurant by chance during my previous visit to Milan. Just around corner from Duomo, yet tucked in a medieval square. It is non-pretentious, cosy place where many diners seem to be regulars. In both occasions, I was solo, but there was no problem. I liked the place and food (I had Ossobuco and tiramisu with a glass... More

It isn't a fancy place but it is still nice. It is just a stone throw away from Duomo. We had a great little table upstairs next to a window. The staff is attentive even though they didn't speak english. We managed to order a mix of food by the suggestions of the server. We were very happy with our... More

The food, service and location/setting were perfect Milan and Northen Italy. Al Mercante is clearly long established and appears to cater to a very loyal and reasonably prosperous local clientele. It's noticeable how many poor reviews the restaurant gets. I suspect this has a great deal more to do with the reviewers limitations than the other way around. If you... More

A small restaurant, tables nicely decorated, service very friendly, great authentic food, fantastic wine very reasonably priced: this is the summary of what was a very nice evening. From the first moment on we felt very welcomed. Great place!

We where close to Duomo when my girlfried who is pregnant felt hungry so after a quick check on tripadvisor for good italian food we choose this restaurant. Waiter service was ok, however their english are limited. On the menu in italian states that bread is €4 (we realised it on the bill) the bread sticks and 2 slices where... More

You have to visit this restaurant close to Duomo if you want to taste the traditional milano meat Fiorentina. They know how to cook the meat perfectly. The place is very beautiful and the staff is very kindly and helpful. For desert i had a tiramisu and this was excellent!!! Very clean, with big spaces and tables, good wines and... More

10 years ago I was in Milano for a business meeting and we ate here and I had an opportunity for a repeat business again this week. Food is very good. Since we were a group, we had a special menu. From appetizer to dessert all was impeccable. Service was spot on without being annoyingly attentive. The restaurant is across... More

Invited for a business lunch, it was my first time in this place. Extremely well located, almost 1 min walk from Duomo's square, and despite that it is not a tourist place. Italian meal, almost from all the regions, very good quality with selected wine list. Staff very efficient with a price level a bit high but you are really... More

Staying in Centro Storico

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.
