This restaurant is located in the middle of the Porta Nuova Garibaldi area, very close to Piazza Gae Aulenti. The building was once associated with the railway system in old Milan. They have used some of the old materials to create a very hip, new restaurant. This is the restaurant I go to when I want a delicious creamy risotto... More

While in Milan, I wanted to try some of the local specialties. So I located the highly recommended Ratana' restaurant (not the easiest to get to using public transit, but within sight of the Gioia stop on the M2 subway) and ordered the supposedly famous local specialty, Risotto alla Milanese with Saffron and Ossobuco. This was a very well prepared... More

Chef Cesare exudes milanese origins in his accent. the food is excellent: ossobuco with risotto ! Desserts are superb, expecially the one with "mandarino". romantic athmosphere for real milanese experience.

I read many reviews about Ratana before visiting Milan and made sure to make a reservation in advance. We wanted to eat a at "local" non-touristy place, with authentic Milanese food and Ratana did not disappoint. It's cozy and comfortable, trendy, but laid back and the staff know their stuff. The food was some of the best food I've ever... More

Top professionals run this place. Short, selective but not over fancied menu. Nobody offers fresh pepper - the chef knows how to season. Nobody asks "Is everything OK?" for improved "customer experience" - it is already there. In a detached house, Ratana offers risotto that looks and tasts as the the best risotto. So it goes with ossobuco. My wife... More

We did a short city trip in Milan in February, and we are, as many travellers today, partly influenced by TripAdvisor of making decisions for which restaurant to pick. Milan has uncountable restaurants and we actually read about Ratana in a travellers magazine where it was highlighted as a must-visit to try excellent food in Milan. We actually later found... More

My colleague and I regularly visit Milan for business but have struggled to find good quality locally inspired food. The search is over! Ratanà has a warm, friendly environment with solid, quality and unpretentious food infused by local tradition. An easy recommendation for anyone.

We went by subway and had some difficulty in finding the place.. We had excellent carpaccio. The milanese meatballs were nothing Special. The "riso zucca Mantovana" (risotto with zucca) was excellent as well as the "Ossobuco Milanese" served with risotto (although it was too much risotto - our mistake). The deserts, their version of MontBlanc and Pears with Chocolate were... More

WE were a group of 11. The service was very nice and the food was good. Some took ossobuco-be prepared for a big dose. I decided for artichoke wa an entry-delicious and a risotto with pancetta . Some tried some deserts but it was not the best in the restaurant.

We've made a reservation online a week in advance. Came from another part of the city. And it was closed!!! The man inside said they "the saw no reservation" and they are closed. Very nice.

Neighbourhood Profile
Stazione Centrale
Central Station represents a bridge towards the future. Impressive skyscrapers and new age buildings stretch the skyline with the majestic Unicredit Tower cutting through. Surrounding it are large towers that define Piazza Gae Aulenti, where the fountain and the Monumento Trombe leave one breathless. A famous building of the district is the Vertical Forest, where the innovative materials and trees planted on the terraces are a unique mix of nature and man-made construction. In the district, there is the Monumental Cemetery, known for its antique tombs with sculptures portraying angels of commemorative scenes many will find touching.
