We came here by accident. It looked so good that we wanted to stop here for a coffee and cake. We were lucky that there was one table with two chairs free inside the pastry. Wow! It was very good. At first we shared a cake but it was so good that we ordered an extra piece of cake.

A delightful little patiserie, Di Viole di Liquirizia located in the heart of Brera at Via Madonnina, a quaint little cobbled street, just of the main road. Managed by the friendly, vivacious chef herself, the freshly baked cakes, pastries and cookies are absolutely delicious! Seating is limited to about 3 - 4 tables but if you are looking for a... this is a small pastry shop in the Brera area and a good opportunity to catch a break from all that sightseeing (and shopping!). The shop is small with limited seating inside and one or two tables situated outside. They produce their own cakes, cupcakes, etc. which are all tasty! We tried the ricotta cheesecake which was quite delicious! The... More

The cafè is really beautiful, in the heart of Brera and very nicely furnished! The cheesecake is absolutely delicious - not easy too find such a good cheesecake in Milan! - and it is a great place for coffee / tea in general. Only downside, they have very few tables but waiting a bit is definitively worth it!

I tried the cupcakes of "Di viole di Liquirizia" after I read an article that recommended this place as the best cupcakes store of Milan. The cupcakes have a very nice presentation and they taste very good. The dough is very smooth. They are not the cheapest sweets, neither the most expensive. I recommend them to the fans of cupcakes.

What else can I say? The place is adorable, although totally minuscule, but we managed to squeeze in and find a table by the window that could fit 3. We had tea and cupcakes and it was all very nice. The cupcakes were really good, the atmosphere was that of a lovely tea room with pillows to sit on by... More

Just visited Milan and (based on good reviews on TA) stopped by this place after a day at Parco Sempione. As there were no seats inside, nor available tables outside, my wife placed an order "to go." We were disappointed we couldn't sit anywhere (as we had 2 toddlers with us, and were looking to rest our feet after chasing... More

I've never had a more beautiful and tastier cupcake. With excellent coffee and smiling service. I'd love to come back here once again.

Staying in Brera

Neighbourhood Profile
Brera captures the real essence of the city. It is an excellent mix between history and modernity, where tradition meets innovation. Here design and beauty reign. On Via Brera there are the famous Pinacoteca (galleries), the National Gallery of Modern and Antique Art, and the Academy of Fine Arts. Interior design boutiques and intellectual cafes are typical of the district. Walking along Via Madonnina is a must to admire the architecture of buildings and the design stores. On Sundays, going to the local market is an unmissable opportunity for fashion, style and art. Tucked away, there is the Orto Botanico di Brera botanical garden that seems like a painting framed in an ancient fairy structure. Last but not least, it’s worth a visit to Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli with its Planetarium, the Civico Museo di Storia Naturale (Natural History Museum).
