Our hotel recommended L'isola del tesoro. We were greatly impressed with this authentic Italian restaurant. The menu is very large, as are the portions. Our waiter was helpful and patient. Most of the diners were Italian and seemed to be repeat guests. I ordered the veal milanese with homemade chips. The portion could easily serve two. The two pasta dishes... More

We ate here one night in dead winter when our hotel clerk told us to go round the corner and ask for a table. We had just come in from a very bumpy flight and needed food and of course wine, and fast! We were seated immediately in a small table in a very crowded restaurant, filled with happily chatting... Don't be deceived by outside. Great authentic feeling restaurant. Excellent pasta. Salt baked fish looked spectacular, regret not ordering it. Would recommend for comfortable late night grub

Not a fancy place, but on the Friday night when I was there it was brimming full of locals, some in good sized groups. They have lots of delicious looking stuff, but I went for a mix of seafood antipasto, which was big and excellent, then a pasta dish, gnocchetti and sausage in tomato sauce (with a nice glass of... Ive come to L'Isola for many years now. Always I have been treated like family by roberto, andrea and renato. Even for anyone who is there for the first time, they get a super treatment. This restaurant has a big menu and is open to dishes being customized. It does get very busy on the weekends, but only because it... More

Our hotel recommended this restaurant when we asked for authentic pasta and wine. We were not disappointed. Tables are very close together but this adds to the atmosphere. Portions are huge. Staff are friendly. Prices are reasonable. All in all a great find. A ten minute walk from Duomo so well worth a visit.

Staying in Navigli

Neighbourhood Profile
The Navigli is part of historic Milan. In the ancient days, the entire city was linked with canals, similar to Venice. Today, most of the canals are gone, but the Navigli remains a canal-based neighborhood. There are two major canals: Naviglio Pavese and Naviglio Grande. The Naviglio Grande's bridges greet visitors at dusk with an amazing view. The Navigli district specializes in clubs, cafes, and vintage shops. Lifestyle reigns supreme here. You can start the walk from the Colonne di San Lorenzo, an antique colonnade in front of the Basilica di San Lorenzo. During the daytime, this place acts as a meeting point for artists and students reading books or chatting with friends; the nights turn it into a stepping-stone for club hoppers. Science lovers will also relish the opportunity to visit the Science and Technology National Museum Leonardo Da Vinci, showcasing inventions of the Italian genius.
