Sad place in a sad neighborhood! Food OK, but not what we were looking for in our first day in Milan. Only one server for 10 tables. Avoid it!

Two couples from Canada traveled to Milan in mid September. We were staying in an Airbnb close to this restaurant. The restaurant was a bit hard to find, as it is set off off the main street and the small sign was not illuminated. Very...cool setting with a piano player on the patio. We sat inside. Very slow to initially come to our table. We were a bit surprised by the photocopied/stapled sheets of paper we given as menus. We ordered a cheese and meat appetizer from the menu for the four of us to share. It was good. At this point, we had had three different people come to the table, never knowing who our waiter/waitress was. The guy who brought the bread to us basically threw it on the table and walked away. The young gentleman who served the wine and took our plates was lovely. Three of the four pastas we had were great, the fourth was bland and very under done (way less cooked than el Dante). Again, basically thrown on the table. It was then that we noticed the size of the cheese and meat appetizers being brought to other tables. It seemed to be twice the size of the one we received, even for the couple sitting next to us. We also noticed all the other patrons were receiving a nicely bound menu, which made us wonder why ours was different. We finished our wine, all the time waiting for someone to ask how we were doing or if we would like the bill. Eventually we flagged someone down for the bill and settled with them. On the way out, our Italian friend asked our initial server why our menus were different and was told we got the English version. We could not help but wonder if the English menu meant less service and less food. Speaking English, we felt like we were treated as second class citizens on this night.More
Really nice restaurant in the city of Milano. The staff was very friendly and the food as well as the wine was really good. Extra plus for live piano performance which set the mood. The place was in a alley which reduced the “buzz” of...the city and made a peaceful evening.More
Too expensive. Nice location with live piano music, food was ok but service was poor. Happy to pay for nice diner with my wife but did not had the experince here. E.g. no change of cutlery between stages, old bread served. For an ordinairy restaurant...ok but for this price my expectation is different. Starter: 2 salmon carpaccio Main course: 1 salmon 1 steak 1 fried patatoes drinks: 1 glass of white wine 1 bottle of sparkling water 96 eurosMore
Nice atmosphere and lovely food!! Everything is really fresh, including the pasta. We also received some nice piano music during our diner.
We can here twice and loved both times. By far the best meal in Milan. Hands down. Doesn’t matter what you order; this is where the locals go.
Everything about this dining experience was great. The staff was so friendly, the piano player was great, and the food was delicious. There were a few difficulties with the language barrier, but we could tell the staff tried their best to understand us and really...wanted us to have a great experience. As an American, it was our fault to not practice Italian before going and there was absolutely no expectation, on our part, for the staff to speak fluent English. But just seeing them try, and willing to help, ensured we had a great experience and made for a great evening. We had the cheese flight for our starter. Then we had the braised short rib ravioli (I think this was the meat inside the ravioli) and it was amazing. We also had a pasta with Bolognese sauce and it was very good too. The ravioli was better, but both dishes were great. I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant. It is in a bit of a weird spot, having to go down an alley way and then up a steep ramp/stairs, but it is really worth the trip.More
We were looking for something for Sunday dinner, and managed to find this using an online search. The reviews looked good and we decided to give it a try. The restaurant is set away from the (rather busy) main street. While the walk behind the...building is a little dodgy, the restaurant it reveals is full of charm and character. This restaurant caters for seating outside and inside. We chose outside as it was a lovely evening. The wine list is good albeit limited. But where this restaurant excels is the pasta - everything is made fresh, and you can taste the difference. The staff were great in helping us decide on a selection and the explanations! This restaurant is well worth seeking out when in Milan.More
Me and my wife have been here twice now and both times we had a very nice experience. The intimate location and the piano background makes it a romantic restaurant. The dishes were amazing, both the steaks and the pasta (the Angus steak with parmesan...cream is out of this world). The waiting time was pretty short, even when the place was crowded, and the service was very nice. I strongly recommend this place.More
Very nice restaurant, great local food. Hidden from the main street, but worth the while. We spent NYE there and were happy that we decided to do so. Special NYE menu was interesting and beautifully served. Definitely a wonderful experience! Classic piano music all night...long might get a bit too melancholyc though.More
We flew from the UK to Milan for Christmas. We booked a table here for Christmas day on 8th December. 17 days notice. On Christmas day at 10.30am, we were sent an email cancelling the booking. So we were stuck in a foreign country with...no plans, on Christmas Day. Thank you very much. You should have told us far earlier Not the way to treat people.More
We went here on our second night in Milan after finding this hidden gem online. They have a great mix of indoor and outdoor seating and the staff is really friendly. The food, amazing! We knew coming from the US the food would be better...than anything we had ever had and they did not disappoint. If you are visiting Milan make sure you visit here!More
This restaurant is certainly off of the beating path. It was very nice to find a non-tourist focused place to eat. It was pretty difficult to find. Having said that we were quite late for our reservation. They were very gracious to still seat us...at an outside table as requested in the reservation. As far as I could tell we were the only tourists present. At very least we didn't hear any other customers speaking a language other than Italian. We were very pleased to have found this authentic dining experience and would certainly return. The atmosphere was amazing and the food delicious.More
Note Di Cucina is a true Italian restaurant. We were the only tourists. However they have an English printed menu. We tried the home made pasta and it was one of the best I ever had. Prices between 12-14 EUR. The only minus is the...way to get there and the surroundings. You need to walk through a dark backyard an past a gym. We nearly stopped and walked back 😉. Luckily we did not.More
We were there because Angela of B&B Antico Cortile recommends it to us. We celebrated my friend's birthday and everything was delicious.
