This was a find in Venice. We stumbled on this place as we were walking around looking for a place for dinner. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great service and very good food.

This was our last visit to Venice. We had a couple of hours before we had to leave, so we sadly chose to have a meal at Mondo Novo. We picked the tourist menu figuring they would have prepared those foods. Ah, no. Our meal took over two hours and when we mentioned it, they said, "tourist menu takes more... More

Mondo Nova was one of the better medium priced restaurants that I visited in early February. Let's get this in perspective though. There is a lot of tourist muck in Venice but this restaurant was a little haven where the Pizzas were crisp and authentic and the risottos were very good. The prices were reasonable (for Venice). We went back... More

We liked the look from outside and were not disappointed by the friendly staff and good food. We paid €64 for two menus of the day, a beer, water and carafe of Chianti. Added to this were a closing limoncello and the menu included an aperitif. We suspect we got the closing drink because we were nice to the waitress!... More

Lured in with a good set menu option but chose from menu once inside, waitress was helpful when making our choice, although we didn't realise we had agreed to a side salad with the starter (it was good though) I had lasagne, hubby had cabanara both tasty and decent portions. We were surprised at the cost of the meal and... More

This is the worst restaurant experience ever... They add cover service when most of restaurants don't. Pizza was not tasty at all. Waiters are so rude & cold and not helpful and the answers for your complaints is just a face gesture. Finally they add prices other than the one written outside by the door. We Don't recommend it to... More

We had a nice dinner here on our penultimate night in Venice. The food was delicious and plentiful and the service friendly. Also, since the restaurant is at a distance from the tourist traps of San Marco, the set menu was good value for money. Would recommend! They also do a veggie set menu.

It shares a garden (more accurately a courtyard) with the restaurant next door. We had lunch here an hour or so after our arrival. Two average pizzas 1 bottle of water = E27. Welcome to Venice!

From the outside it looks like a decent place, nice menu, good price and a very welcoming hostess. But, once you step inside, you'll discover three dining rooms and a dining garden! Food is good, service is attentive and the price can't be beat.

Very good veggie set menu which included water, normally at least a €4.50 add on to the bill. They have a very pleasant garden to the rear, staff are friendly and the atmosphere is relaxing.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
