Friendly service, possibility of eating on the bank of the canal, or inside the restaurant or in a lovely small patio. The food is fresh and very tasty.

Had a very nice meal. The red house wine was very good! Lamsrack and pasta's were nice. The salmon gnocchi was a bit too salty. Panna cotta was great! The service was also good :)

We chose to eat inside as it was windy and quite enjoyed the decor. You can eat outside which was popular too. This was quite close to where we were staying. When the rest of Venice was crazy busy, this was quietly cruising! The food was good, not special. Value pretty much average. However, we liked the authenticity of having... More

Really want to praise this place. We turned up on quiet night no booking and was not expecting anything special. How wrong can you be!! The fish selection starter, and seafood risotto were excellent. We only wanted some cheese to finish with a bottle of red wine and they went to the trouble of putting a great selection together. The... More

Excellent friendly service, good food at a sensible price, great calm ambience at the side of canal. We were staying in the neighbourhood, which we loved - plenty of other good looking osteria along same straight canal, bars with locals and laid back life (not a super touristy area).

They have a fantastic bar up front that is frequented by people in the neighborhood. Good selection of local wines and all the drinks you'd expect in Venice. Really good food prepared in what seems to be a typical venetian style. Lots of shellfish, scampi, squid ink pasta, great value....

I have eaten at this Venezia institution many times over the years but last Sunday I was very disappointed in how it's currently run. Very poor service! Extremely slow. Cooks shouting at waiters. I'll never go back.

I have no clue why this place could ever get good reviews. The lady next to me dropped a bread-stick and her waitress yelled at her! It was an awful sight. The food was mediocre, service terrible, this is a place to avoid.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
