I stopped in on a rainy afternoon and everyone else seemed to be a local. I enjoyed an assortment of very tasty cicchetti. I don't drink wine except for the local spritz (which they don't serve) so I can't comment on that. But I'll go back again to try some of the other offerings. There was a cicchetto with baccala... We visited Cantina Do Mori late into the afternoon and found the most amazing little bar that dates from 1462 - the atmosphere and history contained here hangs in the air...sitting there enjoying some tasty cichetti and a few glasses of local red just takes you back in time and you can just imagine Casanova sitting on a stool drinking... Cantina do Mori is an absolute must to get a sense of the local importance of socializing over the 'aperitivo'. Known for the 'tramezzini' and the tapas-like 'cicchetti' in general, you can also find regional recipes (the baccalà mantecato is to die for). Good selection of regional wines, to enjoy slowly under the hanging copper pots while watching heated conversations... More

One of the oldest and friendliest "wine bars" in Venice. The food was good but the atmosphere and the people make the place

The concierge at our hotel recommended this place for wine and cicchetti. We stopped by for lunch after visiting the Rialto market. The place was busy with tourists as well as locals. The cicchetti and tramezzinis were delicious! We also enjoyed the variety of wines. People come and go, so just be a little patient until you find a spot.... More

As most will say getting lost walking around in Venice can turn out to be something great. That was true when we stumbled upon Cantina Do Mori at 8:30 in the morning. Walking in here is like stepping back into Venetian history. You can enter the Cantina from one street and exit the other side on the next street over.... More

We stopped at this bar as part of a food and drink tour.. What a pleasure, full of locals too which is always a good sign. So much atmosphere and history, it's not a big place but huge on character. I had a soft drink but my husband enjoyed the wine very much. We also had some cinchetta, which was... More

We visited at the end of October whilst wandering around Venice from one cichetti bar to another. You know somewhere is good when it is packed with locals. Ordered 6 cichetti and 2 glasses of wine and we were pleasantly surprised by the low bill. We then took them outside and perched next to a barrel in the street to... More

This bar deserved a visit due to its long history. One of the oldest, or oldest in town, Old style, fine bar service. Prices are ok. They have also very good wines by glass, would one wish to upgrade to Amarone, Brunello etc. If you like historic places and bars, find time for a drink or two here.

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
