Recommended by our hotel and booked by them. Friendly staff. Good range of food. We had pasta starter then grilled chicken ,salad and frites. Good selection of wines. Very busy on a Thursday evening - recommended by us as well as our hotel!

I traveled with larger group of my university colleagues, we went for an evening walk on Sunday and couldn't find an opened restaurant big enough to receive all of us. One man we met on the street recommended Ostaria al vecio pozzo, it was bit hard to find but it was worth a walk. The staff was kind and they... More

This is a great restaurant within 10 minutes walk from the Bus Station. We were a group of 30 friends and they looked after us very well. The food was tasty, the staff were friendly and the restaurant was atmospheric - well worth a visit if you are in Venice

The restaurant was recommended by the receptionist of our hotel. It has a cozy and rustic atmosphere and an unvelievable choice of pizza! We tried the carpaccio and the tagliata - both nicely presented and delicious. We had no space left for dessert but we'll surely come back!

Stopped off at this restaurant after recommendation by staff at our Hotel. We went for dinner and the restaurant had not long opened, but seemed to fill up with a mixture of locals and tourists. Staff were very friendly, especially the female waitress who served us. Great selection of various Italian food, fish dishes, pasta etc Also great Italian beers.... More

First night in venice, and our hotel recommended this restaurant - as soon as you walk in, you just know from the smell it's going to be great. We both ordered pizza because of the smell and we weren't disappointed. Service was great, and the tiramisu a delight. Out of the way, but if you are in the area its... More

This is exactly the restaurant we were looking for. A real italian non touristic restaurant in Venice which is not easy to find close to the city center. Great food, fair prices, great service, fantastic owners truly dedicated to the restaurant. Traditional fantastic food. Ideal for dinner in the terrace.

On November 20, 2016 some friends and I had a most enjoyable dinner at this restaurant. Making the reservation some days before was simple and easy; staff was very welcoming on our arrival and the various meal segments were served by a very courteous gentleman named Roberto. All in all the experience was very pleasing and enjoyable. And, lest I... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
