quite difficult to find, we went in February but I should imagine in the summer it would be delightful as it has what I should imagine to be a great sun trap outside area. We ate from a recommendation by the head waiter to try the two anti pasti fish platters, they were superb but were so filling we couldn't... More

Very pleasant. Helpful and attentive waiter. Good wine. The best part was the food though. Beautiful fresh fish, primi Patti just the right size so you can enjoy taste and still have room for the secondi. We did not have the shared antipasti platter of raw fish but it looked great

There are a great many reviews w five balls. Here is another one. We shared all our plates. Didn't bother waiter at all. Next time I would have all my own plates. And there will be a next time!!! The food is excellent and the presentation matches. This is a very small restaurant but you are not hurried so that... More

We booked Boccadero by chance and I am so glad that we did. The service was outstanding, excellent wine recommendation. Very good seafood to start but the main course was the star. We had pasta with parmesan and butter with freshly grated truffle. It was one of the best dishes I have ever eaten and considering the quality of the... More

Finding a good value location on 31st December in Venice is not easy but Boccadoro was perfect. A menu made up of various Venetian fish dishes that you do not find elsewhere was tasty, interesting and really enjoyable. Service and timing was excellent- all making for a great evening. the restaurant is a little difficult to find but this was... More

food average doesn't compare to a couple of other places I've reviewed in Venice. Crudo average tuna tartare then sea bream with honey? monkfish all sauced up...bread was good.

I made reservations for lunch after our tour of St. Marks - based on the review of trip advisor and I wanted some place far from the crowds of the tourist spots. This restaurant is good but not quite up to the hype I expected from the reviews. We had good service - but the restaurant was not crowded either.... More

Excellent seafood restaurant! Very different and pricey, but a great experience. The starter was a bit of a challenge, but we wanted to try and enjoyed the raw seafood assorted platter. It was good! Different, but good. The main dishes were outstanding. Sea bass and scallops with a pasta were the best meal we had in Venice. On top of... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
