We are an American couple that has been coming to Italy since 2001, visiting Venice on at least a half dozen of the trips. We ate at Ristoteca Oniga twice in our last visit because it was with out a doubt the best meal we have had in Venice and and one of the best we have had in Italy.... More

After having been impressed with this place last year, we decided to go back again this year and the food was amazing again. We had dinner there on our first night and had the house seafood special. The food was abundant and very well priced. The service was great too. We also went back there for our last lunch in... More

food in venice is generally expensive for what you get and there is little choice - we visited Ristoteca Oniga twice in our stay and on balance probably was the best of the bunch - the place is old fashioned looking like a lot of places in Venice and clearly not a lot of money is spent on renovation -... I often eat here as it Is very convenient for the hotel I stay when in Venice. It has a warm a welcoming atmosphere and friendly service. The food is good - and reliably so - not super great but comforting. It's worth booking though as it gets filled up and I've seen lots and lots of casual punters turned... More

We found this little place by accident after the restaurant we were originally going to was closed. Great cosy atmosphere and the portions are HUGE. My other half got the mixed fried seafood from the lagoon and it was enough to feed 2 or 3 comfortably. Spaghetti ragu was lovely too and staff really friendly.

Delightful place. Lots of character and charming staff. The food is quite rustic in presentation but good. Very busy at the time we visited. Books around and lots of ornaments. Well worth a visit.

My wife and I stopped here for lunch one afternoon seeking respite from the rain and cold. We found the décor charming, the service friendly, and the food delicious. The menu had many seafood dishes that other patrons seemed to be enjoying, but we warmed up with vegetable beef soup, pasta with meat sauce, and the house red wine. A... More

Had lunch here food was nice and the service quiet good. Unfortunately it's was full of dogs and my other half isn't keen. They weren't really under control so it was a little distracting. Pleasant enough otherwise.

Thank linkeo

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
