We arrived in Venice on Christmas Day and found this wonderful place for dinner close to our hotel. The risotto with seafood and the ravioli with gorgonzola and walnuts were excellent. They also have great desserts, however we too full to try. The staff were very friendly and suggested a wine with dinner that we really enjoyed. I would definitely... More

Trattoria Povoledo looks small from the outside but it is much bigger inside. I was sure of my choice of restaurant when I saw there were many diners inside. My tuna meal was simply delicious. The waiters were attentive to my requests. I can easily recommend this Venice restaurant.

The atmosphere here is ideal, the staff so friendly! Cook Pino was such a delight, Allessandro who worked the door as well as inside was so sweet! Everyone there made you feel at home! Following a recommendation from our nearby hotel, my wife and I were impressed with the Italian meal here. For our appetizer, we share a plate of assorted meats and cheeses. For our pasta, we sample the lobster with linguini--succulent. Tried the house while wine also.

I had the prawn cocktail for start which was frozen prawns on top on rocket not worth... More

Venice being a tourist hotspot, houses many restaurants which are simply not value for money. This restaurant is unlike any of those, and here me and my family had a wonderful dinner, so good in fact we had to come back on another night! At the door we were greeted by a friendly gentleman. After he ushered us in, we... More

Nice dinner in a relaxed setting, nice wine selection and staff not annoying you each and every minute. Well worth a look while in Venice.

Usually a bad sign when there is a guy on the street trying to pull you into a restaurant, but it was late and we took a chance. What a surprise! The waiter was great and the food was excellent. Prices 8 - 15 euro for entrees we ordered. We had low expectations and ended up with great meals.

Thank Kevin C

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
