Visited for a late dinner.Very accommodating, considering we arrived after 10pm, and other tables arrived even later. Menu outside did not exactly match indoor menu, but tons of choice. Began with sharing a mixed 'cold cut' platter which was very good, served with olives. My husband enjoyed his pork in a grainy mustard sauce and I really liked my scalopini... More

Bad service, 40 min waiting to pay the bill. Food was below average. Two different waiters took our orders.

We went on a very cold day in January and having checked the menu we decided to give it a try. We certainly weren't disappointed, the service and food were both excellent.

We entered the place was quite full, the service was too inviting, you could see they are trying to sell the most expensive stuff. The Aperol Spritz we ordered did not even have ice in it, nor Orange. The seppia nero that we ordered was overcooked as well as the pasta. This is not an 'italian food' restaurant. I have... More

My fiancé and I live in London and spend one weekend a month in Venice so we know the town quite well. We are American originally so our accents make people assume we're tourists. We were unable to get into our first choice restaurant as we didn't make a reservation so chose this restaurant instead and it was horrible. The... More

After not having any luck getting in to busy local restaurants without reservations, my husband and I quickly got a table here for which we were grateful. The waiter asked us if we wanted still mineral water and brought back a re-used €3 bottle of tap water. The back of the bottle clearly explains it if you know a bit... More

Terrible service, had to wait 30 min to order. We asked for pizza and they gave us the menu. Afterwards they told us they don't have any pizza. Food was fine but it's definitely not an authentic Italian restaurant. Really really disappointed in this place! Definitely don't recommend it to anyone !

This osteria (restaurant) is just a few meters from Chiesa San Vidal, a former church now used as a concert hall. We had the flounder. With one glass of wine, two bottles of water, it was 130 euros, a bit more than I had expected to pay at an osteria. Excellent service. The manager gave us some delicious biscotti to... More

They say beauty is not everything and they are right, this restaurant located in San Marco, although hidden and doesn't offer the best ambiance one would hope for but the taste of the food makes up for everything. We just had vegetarian lasagne and Minsterone soup and it was delicious. To the level that I m determined to go back... More

Ate there with several friends. In my opinion, food was OK but not too special. I had cuttlefish in ink and pasta with clams - the pasta was quite good, but the cuttlefish was not hot and unadorned. A good solid restaurant but nothing special, IMO.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
