We visited this restaurant for dinner whilst visiting Venice. We are sometimes cautious about restaurants on large squares as they can be a bit 'touristy' and not good value. No problems here though! Big portions, good house wine, no cover charge. What's not to like!! In a city packed with similar looking restaurants, you won't go far wrong this one!

We visited Ai Sportivi on the basis of a guide book stating they served the best pizza in Venice. We ordered three different pizzas all of which were very good but not outstanding. From the outside the restaurant looked packed so we didn't think we'd get a table, however we were shown to a back room which isn't visible from... More

It was very nice. Very good staff, and also the food was excellent. I can really prefer this restaurant in Venice.

Not sure why this place is getting a few bad reviews. We visited twice during our stay in Venice. 1 starter bruschetta delicious 1 pizza 1 pasta , 1 bottle of house wine & 2 beers 52 euros. Food was all really tasty staff all friendly place had a nice little buzz about it. Compared to eating in the more... More

Ate a meal here which was similar to previous reviews. The set menu looks good, then you can expect awful food, tiny portions and trying every trip to charge more money. Don't eat the bread. They refuse to supple tap water. This is a tourist trap as the tap water is from the mountains in Venice and should be drank... More

After seeing the restaurant full the previous night, me and my girlfriend had extremely high hopes. We arrived at 5 and were intrigued and both selected the set menu. Pasta, meat and side. Promising but from this point the night deteriorated. As the only ones in the restaurant we expected a positive experience. After taking our order and refusing us... More

Everything is great and the price is fair enough, expect the toilet. At least there is a whole lobster instead of half that others provided lol...

My wife and I had a very nice meal in this traditional Italian restaurant. Food was good and reasonable price (for Venice) and no service charge.

What a great find this restaurant was. Great ambience, lovely staff, and great food. Prices were reasonable for Venice, and the meal and drinks were very enjoyable and relaxing.

My experience at Ai Sportivi was awesome. The ambiance is great. The staff very helpful and with a good mood (which is quite uncommon in Venice). The pizza is quite good, so is the aperol spritz. It is a good opportunity to experience the mild nightlife Venice has to offer - mostly locals enjoying St Margherita square. I would definetely... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
