My boyfriend and I found the Trattoria San Toma after searching for somewhere to eat for ages after experiencing rude service in another bar. There was only one table taken by tourists so we were a bit wary it wasn't good but it was early-ish in the evening. Gradually more and more locals came in to eat and it was... More

The service was incredible. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and the server was extremely friendly. The food was outstanding, typical Venetian cuisine. Right around lots of cute shops. We definitely recommend this place.

This family run restaurant is comfortable, friendly, and beautifully decorated. The food is excellent, and the prices are fair. The first time we stopped in was for lunch, as our walking tour had just ended. For lunch, we had the caprese salad and the crostini with arugula. Both were excellent. The house red we had to drink was also tasty.... More

We are traveling with friends, and after a long day came "home". Looked for a restaurant close by in San Toma, and this was recommended by Trip Advisor. Absolutely the best. Great menu, service, atmosphere

We met with a Venizian friend of ours who knew the place and the staff. We had mixed seafood for a starter and as main dish pasta with crab meat, both very good. In addition a nice white wine. It was a quiet Sunday evening and the staff gave us their full attention.

This restaurant was recommended by one of the local shops and did not disappoint. The restaurant is conveniently located in the San Toma square and you won't miss if you are walking to/from San Rocco and Rialto or San Marco. Though the main dish is a la carte, the quality will not disappoint you. We had monkfish, Orata (sea bream),... More

Good food and service. The outdoor seating is very nice, and they even have a nice indoor garden area to eat.

There may be better restaurants in Venice but for a stop off for a lunch on a busy day of sightseeing this is as wee haven. The outdoor seating area in a typical square is so picturesque and a great place to watch the world go by. The menu is typically Italian with a great range of salads, pasta, fish... More

Sat outside and enjoyed a lovely meal which was actually quite reasonable. Fillet steak was cooked perfectly and the fries were yummy. Staff really friendly and the whole area had a lovely relaxed atmosphere with musicians playing in the background. So glad we chose to eat here for our first wedding anniversary. We highly recommend a visit.

Trattoria San Toma is a little gem serving delicious food. The waiters speak good English and their service was very good. We four of us had a range of good and every meal was highly rated. Ask for the Tiramisu with cointreau which topped off a great meal. Mid priced with both inside and outside dinning in a quiet Campo... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
