Went here on a dull November evening. Atmosphere good with lots of tourists and families dining. Walls covered with diners sketches. Interesting to read. Menu fairly standard. Food well presented and reasonably priced. No complaints

We had dinner here on recommendation from our hotel. Both food and service were good. My husband and I shared a calzone, and our friends ordered pasta. Good value.

What is not to like in a restaurant that sells huge G&T's, fabulous food and a litre of Prosecco for 13eu? Quite quirky in that you can write/draw on your placemats and have them stuck on the wall, great fun reading all the messages. Really comfortable place to relax in for a adrink or to sample the wonderful fish and... More

After being recommended by our hotel clerk we tried this restaurant last night. Only one other table of four diners in it when we arrived and nobody else came in while we were there. The four staff members were all sitting at a table reading a newspaper or on their phones. We were finally given menus and after quite a... More

We were recommended to visit by our hotel receptionist and we weren't disappointed. The pizzas are fabulous and we just had house red wine but it was delicious. The walls of the restaurant are decorated with drawings and messages from customers who have visited from all over the world, and they are all drawn on the back of place mats.... More

Our hotel recommended this very touristy place. The pizza was just ok and the pasta dishes tasted like a chain restaurant in the States. Don't make the same mistake we did. You're in Italy, try to find something more authentic than here.

If you like seafood and you like pasta, you must get the seafood pasta! It is big enough to share for 2-3 people. The mussels were good, clams were plentiful. Noodles cooked just right and the sauce was light and just the right amount if olive oil. Each bite we took was so delicious! Just about a 5 minute walk... More

Lovely place, lots of reviews and drawings from customers all over the walls! VERY cheap pricing but thoroughly enjoyed the food and wine 🍷 (2 large pizzas and a litre of house wine was €32!) Great atmosphere and we weren't rushed at all

Ate here twice during our recent visit to Venice, the 2nd time we had the pizza, which was really good. The main entrees were good, maybe the portions could be a little larger, as walking Venice all day, we worked up a big appetite. Would certainly recommend and return to this restaurant.

This restaurant was a few doors from our hotel. What a delightful place! We first had dinner there and returned 10 days later for lunch. The place is always packed with diners, which tells its own story. Our waiter was Marco and I cannot praise this young man too highly - he was really excellent :friendly and efficient. They have... Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
