5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed yesterday NEW

While going around Venice, we noticed in front of a place so many people - not just tourists - that we got curious! After having had a glass of wine, we went back for the second one and to eat something as well! For sure, to remember next time we'll be back in Venice!

We noticed a long queue in front of this place and it was more than sure that we had to give it a try. They have some choice of wines (€0,60-€0,80 per a small glass) and awesome little panini with a choice of 5 or 6 different types of stuffing for €1. Very nice and friendly staff. It's next to... This place has delicious, housemade sandwiches and drinks! The only real downside is that it's incredibly crowded and the waiting/ordering area is super tiny. Once you get your delicious items, go stand in the piazza or next to the canal. You'll love the crunchy bread and housemate meat.

Looking for a little friendly bar with good prices and some nibbles. This is it. Prosecco and red wine were incredibly cheap and totally authentic and delicious. The people milling around and the good atmosphere tell you all you need to know. Our favorite bar in Venice!

Off the beaten track but well worth hunting this place down. Grab some extra cheap but great quality food and drink and property yourself against the wall by the canal for some fantastic people watching. A welcome respite from the commercialised over priced face of Venice.

I love popping into this bar.....Well actually I have never been in as it has been so busy and is very small. But it is perfect standing at the side of the canal drinking your wine. You can get a small glass of wine for 60 cents. Lots of locals come here so that is a recommendation in itself.

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
