My mother and I went during Carnival. It was right after flight of the angel and St. Mark's Square was just overcrowded, couldn't go anywhere. While waiting for people to clear out we did the smartest thing ever which was to walk into this Caffe. Luckily for us it wasn't full. We got a table right away inside, ordered a... More

Having a drink in the main square while doing some people watching is an experience itself. All caffes are quite expensive and so is this one, but you pay the location and not the products and service. That being said the caffe and hot chocolate were delicious. What I didn't appreciate at all was the aggressive insistence of the waiters... More

This an expensive cafe with average drinks and snacks. You will be paying for the experience and the location.

Communing with the pigeons and drinking a Spritz. Lovely place in the middle of Piazza San Marco. Great for a rest and a view. Be prepared for San Marco prices.

The snack was delicious and the waiters were very nice. Especially Micheali he was our waiter. I split a cream puff with my mom and had a hot chocolate.

This is an excellent little caffe bar in St Marks Square and the chandelier is very opulent. We only had a coffee but it was so worth it it came with a carafe of iced water and a little jug of hot milk. The square of plain chocolate was yummy along with the mini Amaretti biscuits. It was definitely worth... More

Me and my friend have been walking around and getting tired, just passed by this place so we want to get some rest and get a drink. The food is okay, but it is quite over price. As I know the places in Europe, you do not have to put down tips. Since the waiter says it's time for him... More

First night, tired and exhausted we entered thinkigitwas Florian. It sparkled and shined and fine first rate music was playing. Service was awesome as was the coffee and desserts. Expensive, yes, but worth a one time visit.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
