We went there everyday while in Venice. The food was made to order. Fried squid wasn't rubbery at all, and shrimp was sweet...so yes I do recommend this place. It's about 10 or less minutes walk from the train station. Please noted that it's a stand, so no seats. There are only a few fried items on the menu, and... More

Small kiosk in Cannaregio area close to station. Easy to find this place which sells an assortment of deep-fried street snacks. Mostly seafood. Please note this is not a restaurant. It only does take aways they need to be eaten on the street. I ordered the calamari for euro 7.8 and some venetian speciality sarda in soar for 2.7. Calamari... More

Visited this place after seeing the reviews while I was in Venice, didn't want a sit down meal so thought I'd venture to find this place. Its basically a fish & chip shop that does calamari. It was amazing and you get a very decent potion.

The dish was freshly prepared and delicious! The price is reasonable - you have to keep in mind that Venice is a tourist attraction and a lot of things are sometimes pricey.

The lady (in charge) behind the bar doesn't know anything about respect. She was pretty anoyed when i asked information about the food, when i asked what was Sarde in sour she started to yeall at me so i decided to leave the place because she was getting more and more aggresive. Don't waste your time with this kind of... More

We loved this stall/booth. Prices really reasonable and huge servings. Typical of many take away places in Venice they sell wine really cheaply in small cups. Service isn't the quickest so be patient. Lovely lady preparing the food. We had the mixed seafood and it was amazing! There's really nowhere close by to sit that we could find so stroll... More

The place is small, yo nned to make a line to order as there are no seats or tables. People just eat standing up, and make conversation. Inexpensive and great quality.

I found this place by accident. The location is easy to find, just follow the smell. The food was fresh and tasty. We had mixed fish, fries and vegetables.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
