This is a nice place to sit, enjoy a drink or a bit of food and people watch. It is located in Campo San Barnaba which us active all day long. The staff is pleasant and the place is busy. If you want to sit outside it is worth waiting for a free table.

Superb place for drinks and small bites. Freshly made. You can stand outside or sit inside, very crowded place but very nice.

Nice Panini's - Fantasia and good coffee. Pleasant stop over for lunch. Menu said frozem foods for pastas and pizzas so we stayed away from them and had the fresh Panini's instead. Great quick service today.

Not only is this place across from the church/library where they filmed parts of Indiana Jones, but also the service is awesome and so is the pizza! So the deal with Venice is that most of it is overpriced and not that good. Yet here we are eating our THIRD super cheap margarita pizza and loving our life. The servers... More

You know how it is, you've been in Venice a few days and if you are doing it right you are starting to get fat. You can't face another pizza or pasta meal for lunch or you wont be able to have one again for dinner. What you really need is a light snack like a sandwich. If you are... More

This could be a great place, with outdoor seating in a lovely courtyard by a canal.. However the staff are very rude and any service/cover charge isn't clearly advertised so you are stung at the till with a price told to you by a very rude member of staff behind the till. Such a shame

We sat in the square at this cafe several times- for a pizza lunch one day, and for an apertif another day- and it was good food, prompt service and good people-watching. Seemed to be a neighborhood hang out for young professionals and families.

Still trying to find the most excellent salad in Venezia. This one was not as good as that at Pier Dickens', in Campo San Margherita, but it was cheaper. This outdoor cafe was crowded but not very loud, and seemed to suggest some relaxation time. The good stuff: There was a clear view of the flea market going on in... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
