I'm glad we ate here before reading the reviews. I read some bad reviews about the Christmas Lobster deal. If you are foolish enough to think you'd get a lobster for €8, then you're crazy! We came to Venice looking for authentic Italian food and this place did not disappoint. We ordered bruschetta to start which was so fresh and... More

This place is a complete tourist trap. The waiters and staff are friendly, but probably to entice more customers to their restaurant. The menu is deceiving as we were told the set is around 8 euros, only to find out that it is per 100g. We ended up paying 100 euros (as we ordered appetizers and drinks as well).

So easy to find - less than 1/2 mile from the train station on Lista di Spagna, which is the main walking street to Rialto or St. Marks. Great variety on the menu and very reasonably priced. Our lunch was so good, we had to go back a second time on another evening for dinner! Very friendly staff and very... More

Initially the waiter was friendly, and offered to choose a popular venetian dish for us, with it looking like it was 8 euros for the dish, however it was after we finished the dish that we were told that it was calculated via 8 euros per 100 g and the food was not fresh and was charged 1kg for the... Don't be swayed by the waiter who will fast talk you to come in and then recommend their platter for sharing which will end up being 80 euros . It was only 8.00 stated in the menu so we were thinking it was reasonable. We told the waiter that he should have informed us and that it wasn't blatantly stated... More

Avoid at all Costs, please. And if this was the last restaurant standing in all of Venice after a Natural Disaster, please make sure you order only from the menu and not subject to the sweet talk "in the beginning" and order some "local delicacy" or go after their suggestion of a dish or their "specialty". Myself and my spouse... More

Do not go to this restaurant!!! They are a bunch of scam artists!!! Same thing happened to us as the rest of the reviews. We saw another couple with a seafood mix and inquired about the dish... Male waiter pointed to a dish on the menu for 2 secs and we said yes well try that ... He pointed to... More

Tourist trap, scam, horrendous food, rude service... avoid this place at all cost! Read the reviews about the fish plate scam, this is exactly what happened to my group of 6! 60€ per person for a platter of the worst fish and seafood that you can imagine!

Waiters would firstly engage in all sorts of sweet talk to lure you in. Once you're in, that's when things turn fishy and sound not right. We should have just walked off. Waiter placed the menu on the table and directed us to order 2 portions of their so called seafood platter which they price at EUR 8 (which later... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
