Busy environment when we went there. Service was fast. Food was not amazing, but was not the worst we had in Venice. The portions served were small. Diverse menu and not just pizzas and pastas.

On a reasonable but careful ( after all it's Venice ) budget we stumbled upon 'La Bella'. Cautious snack ( mixed fish ) with some beer ,progressed to wine pizza ( hot spicy) and a pasta dish. My wife love the latter..I never had a chance at a taste.... quality excellent. Waiters with perfect English,no pushy attitude,a seat by the... More

On a wet evening in Venice we walked along a quiet canal looking for a cozy restaurant. Sadly we settled on La Bella Pollastrella. The seats were wet and when we asked for them to be wiped, they made a quick sweep - resulting in wet pants. The rain then set in and we moved inside. The menu was a... More

we found this little restaurant during our stopover at Venice with 2 and a half hours to spare. Service was nice, although a little slow. my wife had the pizza diavola while my dinner of choice was the pizza calzone Mio. Both arrived at the same time, were thoroughly heated and tasteful. Both meals were in the top third margin... More

Friendly and attentive staff. Quick service especially as we were a big group - good food. I enjoyed the evening very much.

We managed to get the seats right next to water which was really nice. The staff was friendly but the food was bellow average. I've had pizza which was much better than the one in Pisa but definitely not even close to the real, decent pizza we're used to eating. The spaghetti with sea food was the more disappointing meal.... I had a nice lunch with friends. Staff were very friendly and ready to accommodate all our picky requests... plenty options for all taste and the view of the canal is pretty pleasant. I definitely go again for an informal meal with friends.

We only visited this restaurant as the one we had planned to visit, was closed. However, we were pleasantly surprised. Service was a little slow, however when the food arrived it was very tasty and clearly made to order. All in all, an enjoyable meal by the canal, and away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets in... More

Visited with my daughter for our last evening meal during our trip. Lasagne was mediocre. Daughter had calzone mio which she said was OK. House wine was awful. Service was very below standard. Waiter clearly isnt happy in his job. Slow service, forgot the order, my lasagne sat on the table for 8 minutes while we waited for daughter's calzone.... More

Pretty average pizza. Request for tomato free still had significant traces of tomato on it (pre-prepared and scrapod?). Very small portion of chips as a side order.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
