Popped in here one evening for a causal meal and was impressed with a chateaubriand being cooked at a table opposite us so decided to go back for our anniversary meal and wasn't disappointed. Service outstanding, staff attentive and food excellent. Would definitely recommend. Haleile was a perfect host. Was even given two limoncello on the house 😊

What an enjoyable lunch! Sorry is completely bonkers but made our lunch a fun one and you'd be silly to not pop by for food and a giggle!

Found this lovely restaurant on a quiet Campo in the pouring rain. Tables of happy Italians were ordering multi-course meals, but we just wanted pasta and wine and were treated just as well. The house white was lovely. My daughter thought the spaghetti was the best she's had in Italy so for. I had a salmon pasta that was wonderful.... More

We decided to dine here after viewing the menu, which was fairly large with many options to please everyone in the family. The location is convenient and busy, being between the way from the main train station and San Marco. The place was empty when we stumbled upon it, and that should have been our first warning! Once we sat... More

Unfortunately we allowed ourselves to be totally ripped off at this restaurant. We went in with the intention of having a quick pizza. The waiter kept offering helpful menu suggestions - all for the more expensive items and eventually we were beguiled into ordering the hake which was priced per 100 gram. When my husband asked roughly how much the... More

There is nothing wrong with this restaurant but also nothing great. It serves an alright meal and the staff are friendly enough.

The waiter suggested a local beer as per a previous reviewer, we thought we would try as was 12 euro for 750ml, at the end we had 3 beers, 2 Aperol Spritzers and 1 lemoncello, 64 euros!!! It was good beer but why does Alcohol cost so much in this city. Beer in the Supermarket was 1.19 for a bottle... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
