Fresh and delicious food, baby octopus is extremely yummie - only with tomato salsa! For main dish I had homemade gnocchi with basilico souce, the waiter said its their best pasta and I understand why :) the atmosphere is sooo cozy and authentic, when in Venice dont miss to visit!

The venue and location is superb. Great ambiance and clean. The wines were excellent and you won't go wrong ordering the house wines. Nice touch with the complimentary bruschetta after we sat down. The menu was limited in that many courses were minimum of two persons. The specials board was complex and expensive, starters at 25-30 Euros, Pasta and risotto... More

We ate here with our 18 year old daughter who was delighted to see that George Clooney had his "Stag Night" here. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival and the menus were full of lovely things to chose from.... as if there was not enough choice then came the specials board!!. Whilst choosing what we wanted, not... More

Visited Food was just ok. It was very crowded and loud - not magical at all. The wine we chose they said was not available and brought to us a more expensive bottle, and insisted we try it. The evening would have been fine, had we not been charged a 46 Euro Service Charge on our bill. The owner was... More

We agree with all the other great comments. We found the food and staff excellent, the owner, Giovanni the most charming of hosts! The restaurant if full of character, the smells drawing you into an amazing diner. It truly was a dining experience and are looking forward again in Sept to return. Giovanni presented us with a wonderful history of... More

Very good food, small and cozy restaurant and the tiramisu was like velvet in our mouth! We saw Hugh Grand there that night.

The outside world may changing but some good things in life remain. DA IVO is on that list. Step inside to the warmth of a gem of a restaurant--with elegant Rhaseed (smile) and Giovanni (the big guy) officiating in front and Luciano's kitchen team in back-- Venice doesn't get any tastier than this...We love this place--it has only gotten better... 27 years after our first visit and 2 years after our most recent, Da Ivo still rocks! Exceptional food, extensive wine list, personable and professional service, lovely room. Waiter suggested a very delicious wine—much less than our budget—and the pasta with white truffles, Florentine steak, and Zabaglione with truffles were divine. Far and away the best dinner in our first... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
