always tricky when you have fine memories of a few delicious meals in a particular restaurant 9 years ago, and then you dare return there, full of expectations... be assured, nothing has changed. just walking distance from San Marco this is a true authentic Italian restaurant, where the better informed tourists and the locals hang out. the place is always... Our compliments to the chef and of course to the great and experienced staff! This is a real home made Italian food for all kind of tastes not to miss. You might need to book a table during the evening. Should you wish to taste local cuisine is definitely recommended !

Nice cozy restaurant food tastes good but portions are a bit too small for the price you pay. Drinks are reasonably priced 1l of house wine for €12. Nice desserts and coffees too

One of the best unexpected experiences! Stumbled upon this restaurant and found is absolutely amazing! Food looks and tastes home made and I would definitely recommend cuttlefish! The waiters are unique! Prices are reasonable but I would even pay much more for this combo of food, atmosphere and service! Amazing!

Saw some reasonable reviews and as this was our first night in Venice and the restaurant was near our hotel , decided to try it. We were not disappointed. We arrived at 7.30 and within half an hour it was full , with a queue for tables all evening. Always a good sign. There was a good atmosphere, the waiters... More

We ate here twice during our visit to Venice. The food was great, it was reasonably priced and the waiters were brilliant - they could even be described as "The Floor Show". Just great.

We ate here on a recommendation from Italian (but not Venetian) friends. I do suspect that your experience might be different if you are actually Italian. Our waiter was lively and kind of funny. Friendly enough but at the same time it was obviously a canned routine for tourists that he repeated at other tables while we were there. As... More

Got seated in the back without a view of the canal, oh well. Waiter is an hurried older man with no appearance of being polite. We were served some cold bread without being offered plates, oil/vinegar or anything of the sort, not to mention lack of a drink menu or the typical venetian welcome drink. We both ordered ravioli which... More

Look for it. We stopped in 7 years ago for lunch and had to go back for dinner. We had a shrimp appetizer that was terrific with a local fish and grilled sea bass that were very fresh and exceptionally done. The desserts were nothing special though. Local waiters are very friendly and informative. The place is busy and cramped... More

There always seems to be a queue of people waiting to get in here so we queued for 40 minutes with two hungry children in the expectation of great service and authentic food. Unfortunately we were disappointed. It was a busy Friday evening but the waiter got our wine order wrong and then expected us to accept the wine that... More

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
