I've become kind of a foodie and my experience at this restaurant did not disappoint. We were on the fence about various wines so they had a sommelier come to our table and help us choose one. After deciding he told us the story of how the wine was made and what inspired the maker to create the blend. They... More

We were recommended this restaurant by our hotel (Hotel Canal Grande) for our special anniversary dinner. We regularly eat out at very nice restaurants - but this was quite possibly the best food we have had for a while. Not over complicated or pretentious. Beautifully presented and delicious. I opted for risotto to start, followed by gorgeous scampi in almonds.... More

Yum. This was a fantastic wedding anniversary dinner choice. Just two courses each with a bottle of wine. After selecting respective meals, quite possibly the most knowledgeable sommelier in Venice (or Italy) suggested what was theee perfect wine. The head waiter explained each course when it arrived and we did not leave much for the dish hands to do. No... More

We had a fabulous lunch, made even better by the advice and information from the knowledgeable sommelier. We had soft shell crab and the scallops as a starter. Then for main course the goose pasta and gnocchi with lamb ragu. All very tasty and beautifully presented.

No, really, and I've been in Rome and alba and all over the place recently. I am telling you, the stuffed raviolis were a thing of miracles, the pumpkin gnocchi was amazing, the vegetarian special was great and my boyfriend had fillet. Also, the wine! We had a pairing for each meal and the sommelier could not miss! I wish... More

We loved this restaurant, we actually visited twice while in Venice. I stumbled across it online, while looking for a restaurant that served typical venetian food. I highly recommend the scallops as a starter, the fresh pasta with scallops and asparagus, and the Carbonara with scampi. Service was great, we will defiantly return some day!

I have eaten here several time and the food, although good, was expensive but the atmosphere is great. Great place for a romantic dinner and the service is very much up to standards. The staff is well trained and the wine list very good. I look forward to dining there everytime I am in Venice.

I don't know what authentic Venetian food tastes like. I only know good food. First, let's talk about the staff. They were warm and friendly. They made us feel welcomed. They had our table ready and sat us immediately. The M'trade greeted us with a warm smile and asked how we heard about them. I don't know exactly but he... More

The bistrot is an impressive place, the set up is romantic, high end and classy. This is the kind of place to bring a date and impress. The staff are extremely professional and well trained. I came here with my wife for our wedding anniversary. I chose to go for the four course food tasting which was only €70, cheap... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
